Aging Remington Firearms

I am trying to determine when some Remington firearms were made but I am having a problem. For example, I have a Remington Model 14 Pump Action that was made between 1915 and 1935 (only time this model was made). The trademark stamp says Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridege Co. The reference I have found says this trademark was used on firearms made between 1910 and 1920. Makes me think I am closing in. The barrel code on the left side of the barrl is a 'K'. Checking the date of maufacture codes from Remington says this gun was made in 1941. How is that possible? This model wasn't even made after 1935. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone explain this one to me?

Mike,
Remington made receivers in bulk and did not always assemble them right away or in order.
What style of cartridge indicator does your rifle have in the side?
UMC only is 1912
REM-UMC is 1913
They later on went to a filler piece that looks like the primer is missing and is proud of the receiver surface.

Keep in mind your rifle may be older and had some work done to it at the Remington factory.

The indicator is REM-UMC with the fake primer having a U underscored by a line.

Sounds like 1913 then, same as mine. The hole in the receiver was used to make machining processes easier.

If you plan on shooting the old girl, and are reloading watch the COL real close or they will jam up. Have a jack knife ready! If it still won't feed it may be missing the cartridge stop.

Thanks for the info Noel. I know it is NOT a Model 141 as I have one of those in 35 Remington. I have a few other Model 14's I'll have to get you to age for me!!! Love the Model 14 in 25 Remington, haven't got one of those but maybe some day..... Do have one in a Model 8 though. Sweet little cartridge.
