I was fortunate to corner some of the above this Spring. It does a fantastic job on gophers. I shot a bunch this afternoon (Saturday, May 28) using my 457 American. The rifle wears a Leupold VX-Freedom Rimfire 2-7x33 scope. It is the first 457 I bought from Prairie Gun Traders. I now also have a .17hmr 457 American, which also came from Prairie. I only have it "sort of" sighted in, but it will get a good workout when I head out on my annual gopher shoot.
My old back doesn't allow standing for any great length of time, so I use a little folding camp chair (if you could call it that) and a camera tripod. My terrorist Ontario gopher shooter partner made me a nice swivel for the tripod. I slide a piece of pool noodle slit lengthwise over the stock and affix it with elastic bands. It fits perfectly over the stock, sort of hooks on the stock. This is all high tech tactical engineering, as you might have guessed.
When it is time to move to a different spot, I just pick up the stool and tripod in one hand and off I go.
