How did that work out? Thanks for all the replies! I'll keep an eye and try a brick or two from Canadaammo. Thanks again
The Spec Ops .22LR from Canada Ammo appears to be the same thing. The cases have Aguila headstamps and it is loaded to the same velocity. The price is nice at $29.99/brick.
The Canada Ammo site says it is made in the USA for the Canadian market. Aguila is made in Mexico.
Perhaps it is loaded in the US using Aguila components. I bought two bricks of it and they were indeed marked as made in the USA. Other than that, it looks to be equivalent, as I mentioned above. It even smells like Eley priming.
Aguila has had a plant in Texas for a few years now
The longevity of the brand is due to its premium performance, and Texas Armament & Technology (TxAT) started working with Tecnos in 2011 to set up a facility in Texas to produce premium ammunition for North America.
The grand opening of the stateside facility is due later this year. Company representatives say, “The plant had some construction delays, so it still isn’t up and running, but we are close to the final phase. Production will begin this year in late spring or early summer. By having a manufacturing facility in Texas, Aguila Ammunition is able to provide more supply for high-demand products such as our Minishell 7.5 and centerfire hollow point rounds.”
If this all sounds new, it’s because the branding campaign for the Aguila project only started in January of 2016. There are few avid shooters aware of the products and premium components.
appears my dates were off a tadIn 2008, Aguila Ammunition produced a limited run of their 5mm ammo at Tecnos, their manufacturing facility in Cuernavaca, MX. Today, the U.S distributor of Aguila, TxAT, is still manufacturing ammo at Tecnos. However, a second production facility is being built near corporate headquarters in Conroe, TX to help increase needed capacity and produce ammunition domestically in the United States.
