As I understand it, AHEIA is just about to finalize the transfer of the Edmonton Trap Club (The one by the airport).

This bodes extremely well for the Edmonton trap scene.
Congrats guys!!

I look forward to many different shoots in Edmonton over the coming years, and hope we see many of you guys down this way

We need to get a Calgary/Edmonton challenge going on. Say a yearly shoot that transfers back and forth. It could be some fun.

Welcome to AHEIA guys.

Jamie

BTW as I understand it there is one more hurdle to overcome with the Edmonton Airport authority. It sounds like it will happen

It is good news.

The year before AHEIA took over the Calgary Gun club, they threw 100,000 targets.
Last year (2006) AHEIA threw 1,000,000. Thats a ten fold increase! I hope they can do the same for Edmonton.

I am not sure what the culture was in the Edmonton facility, But the culture around Calgary has certainly changed since AHEIA took it over. (According to all reports)
I walked into the Calgary gun club Approx 2.5 years ago. Never had shot trap before, but had a small bit of experience with Shotguns. With all the help/encouragement/teaching ect I received from all the great members and staff I have become addicted to this sport. In fact I leave this weekend to enjoy Christmas in Arizona and am leaving my golf clubs at home.. Who has time for golf when I can go shoot clays. LOL
They have done a fine job down here in Calgary and I am sure the same will happen up north.

It's a great and classy club. And after shooting this past summer in Edmonton at the Provincials I see you guys have a fantastic facility. Combine up your facility with AHEIA and we all have a cant lose scenario.

I am really looking forward to making more trips up north.

Jamie

Excellent news!!

Sure hope AHEIA has the same effect here. I haven't shot a single round of trap since the Strathcona Range was closed.

The Edmonton Gun Club was(is) an okay place to go shoot, the real drawback was the hours. They were only open one night a week and for special events.

If AHEIA sets up a full time manager and skeet, sporting clays, continental trap, and/or international trap fields, it'll be an instant hit. We're hurtin' for a clays range a little closer to town right now.

Looking forward to some more good news on this.

(Who knows, maybe NASA directors would know where some of that equipment could be had.;);))

Semper exscretum

My latin is lousy but "Always in KaKa;don't let the bastards grind you down is pretty fitting for the BS out of eastern Kanada these days especially a couple of years back. Heres a thought! if if the Liarberals or any of th other 2 parties get in next time ariund all they have to do is shut down ammo sales and keep primers out of the country and we are screwed in very short order, i keep a good stock on hand. with luck I could eke it out for a while. Semper Fi.

I'd say your latin is pretty good! Hope the liberal swine don't see your idea, they might like it.

Jamie, sorry about the temporary thread hijack :bump:(we now return you to our original programming). Any idea when the Aiport Authority has to render a decision?

Keep the faith:cheers:

The Airport Authority is different from Transport Canada. I understand the creation of the firearms range and car racing track near the international airport was to create noise and reduce bird numbers within the vicinity of the aerodrome.. Hearsay states that the antigun groups tried to shut down the shooting range. Hearsay also states that the Airport Authority was complicit in shutting down the creation of a shooting range. Hearsay also states that Transport Canada would not allow the closure of the range in order to achieve their objectives of Avian control.

Question:
Do we have a potential fight against the anti gun people?

any further info

Has anyone heard anymore about the range? I would be interested in heading out there to shoot some skeet/trap and becoming a member out there as it is fairly close to where I live. Any info on who to contact etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks
