I have to make up my mind here guys but its hard really hard my head hurts lol. I'd like to buy all 3 but the better half will make sure that this problem would never happen again if I did lol. So here is my headache! I have found 3 rifles I have been wanting for a very long time in all the cal's ive been wanting to get ( 280 Rem, 300 win, 30-378 weath) I would use all 3 and know the pro's and con's but would like some input to which one YOU would get to start off with if you had this problem?

Thanks Dan

I guess it depends on what the rifle was. I like the .300 Winchester myself so I'd pick that first then the .280 I suppose. I have no desire for a .30-378 at all. Of course I never thought much of the .280 since I'd rather have a 7mm Express.....:stirthepot2:

I agree with pharoah2, for me it would depend on the rifle.
That being said, i have had 2 rifles in .300WinMag(a Win Mod 70, and currently Browning BAR MkI) and neither of the others.
The advantage to the .300WinMag being brass availability and usage of regular .30cal bullets if you are a reloader.

What do you already have in the safe? IE if all you have right now is a .270 win, pass on the .280 and grab one of the 30's. If all you have is a .338win mag, the 280 would be a great addition to broaden the spectrum.

this is super easy- the magnums( you listed 2, btw) will eat you out of house and home in terms of powder- they're just 308's on speed and super-speed respectively- the 280 is basically the same as a 7mm/06- which will do any job until you get into big bears- granted, with the 7mm. you're operating right at the edge of the weight level when you go to 180's - ie the 30's would give you a little more weight to play with, but the rest is just speed - you can accomplish very much the same thing with a 308 just have to get closer-you want to REALLY step up, go to the 338 or 375

You say your starting out so go with the 300 win mag as ammo is available just about everywhere. On the other hand if you have been with the better half very long then go ahead and get all three. They will forgive you eventually.
