AI Rem 700 stock

Hi, I have a green AI AICS stage 2.0 short action stock.
I use it for both a 243Win action/barrel and a 270WSM action/barrel.

The stock itself works wonderfully well, is extremely rigid and solid, an action can be laid in it in 5 minutes, is almost indestructible, comes with an "industry" standard box magazine system and attracts attention.

The only negatives are high price, heavy weight (something like 5lbs) and it attracts attention.

I wanted the best tactical rifle stock and that's what I got (at the time).
New models are coming out all the time so AI or another company (like Remington) might introduce a superior stock system but I still love the look of the AICS 2.0.

There are lots of posts on here as well as pics that detail this issue. I have the 1.5 on a .300wm and the 2.0 on a .223 and IMO the AICS is a top shelf aftermarket system - it won't turn a Remy into an AI but it will improve it for sure.

Thanks guys, will check it out more. Had enough of buying the wrong thing. I do like the current look of the standard stock 700, it's the mags that's the issue with me. I got a mag replacement for the floor plate, and 4 round mags. Except the shoots at events are done in 5's. The AI is rather chunky in appearence, not sleak and ###y:D.

Would be much better if I could actaully try one first to know how it feels and works.

Both the MDT and AICS use AICS mags - IMO, the best aftermarket mags out there - if you are looking for relatively light then MDT may be the way to go as AICS is a bit heavy. Much will depend upon your intended use.

Just checked out MDT. WICKED!!! Gotta get me that! Thanks!

Forget about looks.
Think about ergonomics.
Doesn't matter how uberkewl a stock is, if it fits you like a club, its a bad choice. How is it off the bench? Prone? Sitting? Kneeling? Standing? Would you take it hunting?

That's the problem isn't it. How does one get to actually pretest this out before buying? This would be strickly for target, prone most of the time. I like the fact it lines up the recoil straight. I'm also planing to get a muzzle brake for my Rem 700. Anything to help an old fart keeping the rifle comfortable and steady.

Won't be doing anything until next season, so will get a chance to ask around at the ranges.

I have an MDT/Rem 700 with a Magpul PRS stock. I find it to be very comfortable for prone shooting and definitely lighter than the AI stock (also a very fine stock). I find I don't need a muzzle brake on mine (.308), the recoil is nicely damped by the inline design and I can shoot all day without any problems.

Some like them some don't, I'd get your hands on one before you decide. They work well for me. Not a hunting stock though.... at least not if you don't want to pack a 14 pound rifle around.
