If that is all how repeatable is this . I mean is there any return to zero when going back to the .308 or is is a re-sighting process each time you change the rifle in the stock ???

Return to zero with mine has always been great.

I don't shoot much past 200m and my accuracy requirement is 2.5 MOA on cold bore shots. So I don't adjust it, remember the scope stays on the action the whole time.

Remember to torque the screws to the same 60ft-lbs though.

IMHO - the biggest benifits:

1. No bedding required - switch out the ubber tactical .308 for the .243 plinker with just a few screw turns, even less if you 'gasp' drill a couple of holes through the stock skins so that you can access the action screws without removing the skins :shock: relax I never plan on selling it.

The AICS System is advertised as not needing bedding, but most will find that bedding should be done to these stocks.

It is not the stock that is the problem, it is the factory Remington production recievers where the problem lies.

They are hand finished on sanding/polishing wheels, so it is the outer specs of the action that is not always square/true.

Torquing down a production Remy action into the AICS may stress the action and/or slightly "bend" it.

I have had several VERY reputable custom rifle builders tell this.

I also own two of these stocks and will bed both of them this winter (if I get time!!!:roll: )

Very good point - all of my Rem700's were trued and blueprinted prior to me purchasing them. (main reason why I forgot about it)

One is a Rem 40x with 7.62 Nato barrel and the other is a rebarrelled Stainless 700 Varmit in .243. The last is a stainless 700 heavy varmint with stainless fluted barrel. Unforetunately I was the third owner (that I know) of these rifles and I don't know who did the action truing - but it was someone out west.

I guess I should try with another rem 700 good excuse for another eh?
