I was looking into these AIA as well.
What do you use for that cheek? Looks like a very well done home invention of a cheek piece.

That is how they come out of the box. The theory with the AIA rifles is the designers took every technical design end point and either improved it or made it with modern materials. In a sense they are No.4 Mk III rifles.

So, the best handguard bands were the very earliest ones with a hinge joint. This is what is in the AIA rifles. The No.4 Mk I's have a large lump on the right sidewall that was a leftover from those first rifles, that only disappeared in the 1950's Mk II rifles. That lump is gone. Over the years, some shooters found their sightlines with the original stock could be improved with a sniper rifle cheekrest, not to mention when using a scope. That cheekrest is part of the standard fitting.

They do seem to be nice rifles, it's just too bad that they seem to be orphans. It's been something like 3 years since Marstar (the Canadian distributor) has listed spare magazines.

Check out my thread in the milsurp section:

I was shooting out at 200 yards yesterday and was getting somewhere between .75 and 1 moa with sierra matchkings. Going to probably be out tomorrow, pics to follow on the above thread.

They are great rifles and worth every penny, especially when compared to what else you can buy for 800 bucks, the fit/finish is great and attention to detail is everywhere.

Before I placed the order I checked up with a friend of mine who lives in Tasmania.
He said that those rifles are damn good and are very popular Down Under.
Now I'm awaiting one.

I have one of the heavy barrel target versions and am very happy with it. Accuracy is fantastic.
It weighs in at around 10 pounds, so its not a light weight. I'm thinking about getting the barrel fluted for weight and heat dissapation.
There are alot of nice details on these rifles. The triggers are heavy and sloppy though.

I have a standard model. It shoots 1.25" 3 shot iron sight group average at 100m with some Euro Ball 308 surplus. I wish it had the "ladder" long range rear sight as standard (but hey. this is a minor quibble).

I like it so much I wish they'd get the match rifle model in (Don't hold yer breath).

If you're handy, one should be able to make a copy of a Brit L-39 or L-42 sniper rifle using them as a base rifle.
