Hi,
I bought one of the AIA M10 B1 Sportsters from Marstar that came with the two specials, case, extra mag and scope base, and scope with rings. I bought on an impulse without doing much research on it.
The scope is a NcStar 2.5 - 10 X40 P-4 Sniper reticle. I put it together, cleaned it and greased it and wow, is the action ever smooth. With this scope installed, the rifle looks (to my eyes) absolutely beautiful. Never had the chance to shoot it yet so far it just looks fantastic.
I am curious, for you owners of AIA M10s, what are your opinions of this rifle? Is it reliable? Durable? What about the scope? Is it good to take it hunting? Does it hold zero? Is the rifle accurate? It is heavy so I suppose it would be quite hefty for a long trek in the woods but it would certainly make it a good exercise.

I had an AIA for a little bit, it was my first rifle actually, but I never really used it. I did all the research though, and I can tell you it is a great rifle in every respect.
There is some mystery about where it was assembled/where did the parts come from, but who cares? They shoot great and they are a lot of fun, bottom line. I really regret letting mine go. :(
 
I had mine for almost a year, put more then 200 rounds through it. It is fantastic, build like a tank rifle. With cheap $21.00 a box 150 grain bulata I buy at Canadian Tire my rifle groups consistently at max 1.5 inch and less then an inch if I aim good 100meters range.
The scope that came with the rifle I used for my 10/22. I had old Bussnell Trophy 2x7 32mill it works perfect. Knok on wood it keeps zero for all the time I shoot
Magazins from m-14 will work in this rifle without any problems but not vice a versa.
You might think about getting a better scope. For me it does what I wanted good durable hunting rifle, fast lea-enfild action, modern ammo and if need be it would make good and fast designated marksmen rifle
 
With a strengthened Lee-Enfield action, modern barrel and free floating, and in 308, you can't go too far wrong. From everything I've read about them, your rifle will still be taking game long after you're able to. Remember there are guys still taking a ton of game with nearly 100 year old double war veteran Lee Enfields in 303. If anything these rifles are over built, since the original Lee action functioned perfectly as a 308.
 
Thanks guys for your comments. No, I did not see the review in milsurp. I didn't even look there. I wouldn't exactly classify AIA M10 as misurp rifle. I looked in Main Battle Rifles. Thanks for the link to this review. I am curious if the standard Lee Enfield furniture is interchangeable. Might not be as this is different caliber and arguably the action on these Australian Lee Enfields have been beefed up for strength to go with the 308 cartridge. But what about buttstock? Also just curious with Lee Enfield butt stock design, do they come loose sometimes? The Lee Enfield stock is not a solid piece as it is with other bolt rifles but rather two parts, the forestock and the buttstock is attached separately to the receiver with I think one screw but I never took it apart so I am not sure.

No. As the ladies have told me, I have a jeezly big screwdriver. Flip open the tightly sealed flap on the buttplate. Dangle the screwdriver to the appropriate depth. Find the slot deep down in the hole and screw firmly ... :adult:

I've been feeding mine a steady diet of .308 loads about 3 grains below maximum and have been having no trouble at all. For this rifle I would treat them as one and the same. There will be other opinions regarding this though...:nest:

All that I have shot is 180 gr fmj. Hundreds of rounds. You must be hand loading. I was unaware that these rifles were like m305s and there was a max weight that you could fire. Are you talking about hand loads Aric?
