I am extremely happy with this rifle, so far. Accuracy was acceptable given my limitations, and I'm sure I will get much better with this rifle. Based on my intial impressions and first range outting, I would give this rifle a 5 dancing banana rating out of 5.

LOL, Great rating system :p
And thanks for the report :)

LOL, had to make use of the new smilies Sparhawk found for the board.

The report was fun to do up. I hope members found it useful. I'll have updates as I go. Hopefully will have a longer range report for today (Sunday).

I'm sure it will get better with break-in and practice.:ar15:

Stevo: re the apertures on the sight being too small- you know that you can drop in any No 4 sight-the rifle was designed to fit them. I'd put a Mark 1 sight in it place of that flip sight with the too small apertures...

Stevo, when shooting that black bullseye at 50 yrds, did you try a 6 o'clock hold on the front sight or just held for the center?
Most of the time, a proper six o'clock gives you a better register in aiming.
Very nice rifle, BTW!:beerchug:
PP.

Yeah, give her a run at 100m with a scope. That Port ammo is pretty good stuff, folks get MOA out of it in their PSS's and Savage heavy barrels so it is consistant.

PP,
6 o'clock hold, sir. That the way I always hold, if possible.

Nice going Stevo!

I want one now..... you bugger.
I don't have the funds now, but I suspect they will be around for a while.

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome. I didn't have the money either;) .

Want to buy a Nice Finn M91 or a Mossberg 500A? (They're all I can stand to sell.)

Range Report II: AIA No4. Mk4.

Ammo used: 7.62x51mm NATO Portugese FNM Ball, same lot as previous report.
Conditions: Aprx. 20C, high broken cloud, wind directly across range, aprx. 10-12 mph.
Distance: 100m.
Rest: sand filled jeans legs.
Sights: Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32mm Scope, Armalite 1 piece scope mount.

Factors to consider: Irregular crosswind.

Targets: 4.5" painted bull, stick on tags, salvaged target scrap.;)

Bench area:

Group 2: Note: Due to dot being completely obscured by crosshairs, I had to offset aim.

Group 3: Note: Two left most shots were not fired as part of the group, scope adjustments made after each of the first two. Group is the three shots closest to cartridge case.

Bolt pic as requested: Green substance is from primer sealant.

Conclusion:

Groups fired today were smaller than yesterday with open sights at 50m. This supports my crappy eyes excuse.;) Best group aprx 1 3/4 in. or 1.75 MOA.

Scope mount is way too high. I was barely able to get a chin weld on the stock. Low rings and mounting the cheekpiece will be my next step. I've traded for some genuine 'T' brass cheekpiece screws so it will have a little bit of real No.4 in it.:)

Once again, I believe a better shooter would be able to get more out of this rifle/ammo combo. With better ammo and shooter, I suspect 1 MOA or sub-MOA will be possible.

This rifle has exceeded my expectations for fit and finish. I has met my expectation for accuracy very nicely as well. Uncle Ho's Tractor and Rifle Factory does fine work.:D

Stevo, I've got some Norinco ball and some Hirtenberg ball that I can spot you to see if it shoots any more accurately. I look forward to seeing this rifle.
If I'm really nice will you let me touch it?

Thank you for your informative and objective review of the Australian International Arms M10 No.4 mk.IV rifle. As concerns collectors and shooters of commonwealth military surplus (and similar) rifles, the M10's arrival on our shores is one of the most significant new offerings in over a quarter century. There are countless newly made Mauser(ish) sporting and target rifles in an endless variety of flavours however these 'improved enfields' are definitely a breed apart.

Stevo, I'm looking forward to further reports about your new rifle and encourage those who have received or are awaiting their M10 rifle's arrival to 'sound off' on the forums in a similar manner. As there is a much more active reloading community here in Canada than there is 'down under' I'm also interested in seeing what one of these will do in the hands of someone who works up a load specifically for their rifle.

Cheers,

- Peter

Hi
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but already asked flinter a favour to supply me with some high-grade handloaded ammo for tests. Hope that thing behind the buttplate will not hurt the rifle's accuracy... ;)
