AIA Magazine Fun- Who Else is rocking these bad boys in their M14/M1A/M25?

FWIW I went through the Ontario Hunting regs - they have a paragraph on rifle mag limits:

"Under the Criminal Code of Canada you cannot possess any clip/magazine that holds more than five shots for a semi-automatic centrefire non-restricted firearm unless that clip/magazine has been specifically exempted, pursuant to the Firearms Regulations."

Which as I interpret we are good to go with elanders while hunting. A little OTT for deer but personally if I was tracking a wounded bear I'd like to have every advantage in my corner.

I won't derail this thread but, I'd dig deeper on this one before hunting with them. I seem to remember that clause being specifically written for Garands.

I have 3 and they all work flawlessly in my M305 with the enhanced bolt release and mag release.

My understanding of the hunting rules are that all semi auto centrefire rifles are to hold five rounds only.. Now I wouldn't want to go to the natural resources public range and happen to have a warden stop by when running ten round mags through a centrefire semi either. That could be opening up a kettle of $#it no one wants.

I have 2 norinco m305 rifles. On one the bolt is never properly held open after last round and on the other rifle it works fine. I bought the 5 pack from wolverine and it is the same with each mag. Nice mags with no feed issues. Both my rifles are 2012 models with obviously much different tolerances. Overall I would recommend these mags just keep in mind they may or may not lock the bolt open on last shot.

Hunting rules apply only when hunting (or poaching) target shooting is governed by the applicable federal firearms law. Also hunting regs vary from province to province.

I have 4. 3 of them don't activate the BHO on 3 of my 5 rifles....

I also have 200ish of the 10rnd "clips" (the actual clips that work in the clip guide).... What a treat sliding a fully loaded clip into the clip guide and having all the rnds fit in the magazine! lol! It's the little things that make life great isn't it?

As a side note, I didn't realise that Wolverine was running a 5-pack deal...... I'm defiantly going to take advantage of that!

A nice clutch of 6, here!

I use the larger, aftermarket, magazine hold open to engage for those that don't anyways... so still quicker than the alternative I any scenario. Apart from unneutered. Which is still a dream at this point.

Cheers!

I bought 2 from Wolverine and took them to the range this week in my Norc M305.

Damn, did they work GREAT!!! I only had one FTF, and that jammed the round at a 45 deg angle on the last round in the magazine. It stuck the follower until I slapped the mag bottom against the bench and it sprang back into place. I suspect it was a fluke caused by the ammo (Norc surplus) because the next 30 rounds fed flawlessly from that mag (it's possible it could've been a break-in thing too).

Like others, I have a number of the 10 round stripper clips and it's SO nice to feed all 10 into the magazine at the same time. I only bought two because a) they're kinda pricey (but that's the price of admission - so I sucked it up and hit the wallet) and b) I like to use the stripper clips. I'm cheap, so sue me!!!! :d

Uhhh... so these are like 75 bucks EACH????????????????
Is it really THAT amazing to be able to shoot a whopping TEN rounds without having to change mags?

Are you guys using these guns in Heavy Metal 3-gun matches or something? Why not use AR10s? Heck does ANYONE use an M14/305/1A/Garand in 3gun? And I do realize that there are shooting competitions for just the M14s but they aren't usually CQB or anything that requires a 10 round capacity are they?
If you're stocking-up for SHTF, the Zombie Apocalypse (pretty sure that isn't a thing anymore? Fluorescent green just called, it wants it's SO out of "style" EVERYTHING back lol) or WROL times, you actually want the 20 round or 30 round mags cause when that day arrives, out come the pins.
IDK man...

I just kinda struggle with my M14 sometimes.
It's a long range semi-auto or a DMR...but, for real long range I have a .300winmag. For long range and maybe SHTF the .300 wins. Shoots further and can take bigger game at distance. Win to the .300
As an intermediate battle rifle it's up against a LOT of stiff competition but if we're keeping it apples to apples (the .300 above is a bolt gun that holds 4..not REALLY apples to apples but for long range I'm assuming you aren't going to be rapid firing a moose or enemy that's 800-1500 yards away?) and the price low, you can get an SKS and a few thousand rounds for the price of an M14 and ...it's a better intermediate rifle and cartridge (of course both of those are debatable)
SKS might win this one too?
For CQB it's DEFINITELY not great. No one is going to be spraying 7.62x51 ammo at bad guys inside of a building or house..or vehicle. What's black and green and can't turn around in a hallway? Yup.. a soldier with an M14. I think a PCC is MUCH better suited.
Win goes to ..let's say (keeping the $ similar) the SUB2000?
For target shooting, for HIGH VOLUME shooting, for plinking, teaching the grandkids to shoot.. just about any S/A .22 beats it and man...you can buy a LOT of bricks of ammo for $400 too. Actually the 9mm PCC and the SKS both beat the M14 here too.
The S/A .22 hands DOWN!

OK sorry..turned into a "M14 vs the world" rant. Sorry.

My point is that..here's another and probably my welfare butt's main reason to be hating these ($80 MAGAZINES?? You're KIDDING right? Are they DRUMS?) is that I can't afford to buy those mags and I SURE can't afford to shoot twice as much .308 ammo. Or the same amount in half the time. And there is never a time that I say to myself while or after shooting my M14... MAN I wish the magazine held 10 instead of 5 rounds.
I'm gonna stick with the 5 rounds, the 5 rounds (5/10), the 5 rounds (5/20), and the 5 rounds (5/30) mags for my M14. Even THESE cost a FORTUNE.

Sorry for being such a rantypants. This is me jacked-up on coffee in the mornings. facepalm

Thanks to idiotic Canadian laws rammed down our throats by Chretien the Cretin and Rock the ####, this is the only way we can even get close to the designed mag cap for the M14 platform.

Yes, they're expensive, but that's the price we have to pay. If someone can make the identical mags cheaper and sell them for less we'd be all over it.

I got them for $55 each when they first came in & were offered in a 5 pack. I kept 2 & sold the other 3. Are they worth it? Yes, absolutely!

Cheers

I bought one for my M305. Can't remember but I think it was the E-Landers when they first came in.
It sucked. It sat too low in the receiver. It wouldn't pick up a round.
Tried it in my friends M14 shorty and same thing. I compared it to a C.M.I. M14 pinned 5/20 magazine I had always used side by side. The knub on the rear of the magazine spine was clearly welded on higher than where it should be meaning it sat lower when inserted so the bolt rode over the top of the cartridges.....
I paid almost $120 taxes and shipping in for it. So it was a major disappointment to say the least.
That with the cost of shipping to return it to the dealer I got the money for the mag back but had to pay taxes and shipping to me and shipping back for a product that didn't work.
I also wasn't willing to modify the magazine in any way to make it sit higher, it would have been very easily done but then I'd be a Federal criminal yadda yadda no thanks.
Junk for this guy but that was just my experience.
