To Stevo, main could not operate with them. Each time I cycleed the bolt it kept pushing the mag down
It's one of those cases where the law is on your side, but an officer might not see it that way, which is unfortunate but understandable. You probably couldn't get in trouble for it in the end, but if a cop stopped you and you had an m14 with a bunch of what appeared to be 20-round mags for it, he probably wouldn't buy your explanation at the time. It's such a badly written law, it's hard not to sound ridiculous when explaining it to someone!
If it was me, I'd get an AIA rifle - as well as an m14 - and store the AIA mags in a case with the AIA rifle, separately from the m14. I'd even have the AIA mags engraved as such. That way, in the unlikely event that an officer wants to inspect your gear, he'll see the 20 rounders together with the bolt gun and not think anything of it. Keep your ducks in a row, and save yourself the hassle.
Certain rifles and with certain op-rods this will work. My 2 Norinco's Worked but my 2007 only worked if I put in the Tartain Tactical op-rod as the Sadlak 1 would pop out after a few rounds of recoil. My 2009 reciever works with both Tartain Tactical & Sadlak op-rod's but none worked with the original 1's. Furthermore if you take that sweetly ###y & smooth follower out of the AIA and slap it in the M14 mag it works with out any issue. Plus I like to think it help's with the overal length of use in reloading the brass and a much more smoother cycling action
Just my cents
If the magazine has the little square hole it is a M-14 magazine, and engraving something about the AIA on it won't change things.
IF someone did a run of 20rd AIA magazines - without the little square hole - they should be good to go.
Well - where can we get these mags?
Buy an AIA rifle.
That may be the case with your rifle, but certainly not with all of them.
My Norinco runs flawlessly with both of my AIA mags.
Click on this video that M14Doctor didStevo, Can you post some pics of an AIA mag ?
I'm not gonna say who the lucky gun nut is, who this fine rifle belongs too, but here she is, fresh off my bench and on film for it's virgin run against the 225 yard gong at POCO range, B.C.
her owner can post the rest of the pics i emailed and a run down on the full load of M14 crack that went into this beauty. Note the brand spankin new condition usgi fiberglass furniture
enjoy
BTW..... she hit the 8" plate (gong), 8 out of 10 shots......with norinco 147fmj and a 10 to 15 km crosswind down range

Nope. Thanks very much for the video link. The mag looks idenrtical to an M14 mag without the hole up front.
Do you happen to know if the AIA mag is marked in any way ?
I've seen a few AIA rifles turn up in the EE with an M14 5/20 mag stuck in them and the factory mags MIA.
You might take a $100-200 hit on the rifle or whatever, but... 10 round mags for your M14...
Spencer: don't get any bright ideas. Welding over the square hole on a M14 mag and claiming it's an AIA mag is a good way to accomplish two things:
1) All AIA mags being enforced to 5 rounds
2) You ending up in prison.
Err,... ooops... I meant to direct this at "czechitout"
