AIA No.4 Mk 4 as my first rifle? I have concerns...

You could always try Brownells, I have this set up on my old Long Branch No4.

I am a Lee Enfield fan and I bought an AIA because of the similarity to the No 4 Mk1. I thought the wood was excellent, the metal finish was also good (similar to the Norc M14 actually - maybe a bit better ). Sights were nothing special but functional. I mounted the rail and put an Elite 4200 3x9x40 on it and found it to be just outside MOA with 150 g Federal Powershok. I did not put handloads through it.

I found a little difficulty feeding from the magazines but nothing to really worry about ( they were new and may have improved as time passed ).

I sold the rifle after no more that a couple of boxes of ammo through it. I sold it, in part, because I wished to fund something else and, in part, because to me the AIA is not a real Enfield and because of that I just never did get into the rifle ( Skennerton disagrees with me re: the real Enfield comment but he has a vested interest in AIA as far as I can tell ).

Overall, nothing whatsoever to really complain about but if its an Enfield you want then you can get a near virgin No4 Mk1 (or even No4 Mk2) for less money and in my opinion enjoy equally if not more. Furthermore with an Enfield you can mount a nice PH5c and do some 'old school' shooting.

Just my 2c - others may disagree.

Bob.
