But who is importing these things and where are they coming from? If I wanted to place a deposit, (I think they're kinda cool ) who would I call?

Any one know if they have chrome bores? If so, make mine a 7.62x39 and ship it with a case of chek ammo and 3 or 4 AK mags....

so I take it you won't be placing a deposit?

Not me. They are kind of interesting, but I'd much rather spend my money on real surplus guns. Nothing against them, just not my cup of tea.

That 7.62x39 carbine does look kind of neat though.

I hear ya. $1000 is nuts.
I'm not sure what makes these so much better then a $200 real deal surplus no.4?

The picatinny rail, man. That makes it "tactical" and therefore worth a lot more money.

Bonuses of this over a surplus #4.

1. New manufacture out of modern steel

2. Compatibility with onhand ammo, as opposed to having to stock an additional type (ie use the .308 stocks I already have, rather than buying .303)

3. Designed to have a rail mounted for optics, and compatible with Picatinny standard (handy, but not a deal breaker or maker)

The Rangers insist on the Lee Enfield because in their opinion there is simply no alternative. That is why the CF has had to go back to the World surplus market at least once recently to buy a few thousand more rifles.

None of the Rangers I've trained with in Labrador prefer the #4. Aboriginal or otherwise. The CF has NOT gone out and procured LE's especially for the Canadian Rangers. There is no budget! That's the same reason the Rangers here use their own snowmobiles and personal vehicles when doing exercises or Sov-Pat. THERE IS NO BUDGET! The Rangers get what they're given ... just like any other branch. We don't have a say in what's issued and neither do the Rangers. In the case of the Rangers they get old surplus rifles there' s no money to issue them C7's. They should have gotten the old FN's but that made too much Godd*mn sense!

Baked beans cause gases in my house. I don't know whether it's gree in color, but I guess Gov't will ban it too shortly...

Thanks for the pics Wes! Much appreciated and enjoyed.

As for replacements for the rangers, why don't the police donate all the dangerous modern assault rifles they pull off the streets from those amnesties that work so well? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
