AIA question

Do you suppose that there is any chance that the barrels actually are reworked mini-gun barrels?

A couple of years ago I read the mini-gun barrel story and based on that info(along with the specialness of the unpinned legal magazines), I ended up buying a B3. While I was focused on the ruggedness of the gun and the special magazines, I was pleasantly surprised when the rifle turned out to be a beautiful piece of kit. It's easily the nicest rifle in my safe(Most of my toys are black guns or old milsurp).

The barrel on my B3 looks pristine to my eye, so I doubt it was a used barrel that was retooled for this application. Based on the condition of the reworked barrels on some of the retooled milsurp rifles I've seen, I wouldn't believe anyone who claimed the barrel on my B3 had seen service prior to installation on my rifle.

As far as the OP's question about what parts to stock for repairs, I've only put about ~100 rounds through my AIA, so I can't make a fair comment about what replacement parts to look out for. But, from all the reading I've done prior to buying my AIA and after buying it, I don't think you should be too worried about buying spare parts.

But, I will say that while the gun is beautiful, rugged, etc, it does not cycle rounds as smoothly as my Tikka T3 Tac. When trying to rapid cycle rounds through the AIA, when hammering the bolt closed it feels like there is a lot more resistance than when doing the same on my Tikka(same ammo). That may be an issue which disappears with more usage, but as I mentioned I've only put about 100 rounds through the AIA so I can't say for sure.

Anyway, even though I rarely shoot my AIA, I don't see myself ever selling it. It's the kind of gun were I don't have to pull the trigger to be happy with it; just looking at it sitting in my safe makes me happy enough.

Readyrod, if you do buy one, hopefully you will be as happy with your AIA as I am with mine...

So if I get one which spare parts should I stock up on? I would like to keep it for a long time if I do get one.

At the same time I ordered my rifle I also got an extra extractor and ejector along with springs for both. I can't really see much else failing or needing to be replaced before those two things.
