AICS - black or green?

I'm about to order an AICS (1.5, long action) stock... does anyone have any comments or recommendations as to the colour? I've not seen one of these stocks in person, so I've no idea as to the finish or actually hue of either of the colour options.

I'll be using the rifle for learning to target shoot (51 weeks of the year) and deer hunting (1 week of the year). My natural inclination would be to steer away from the black, mainly becasue I'd rather not have a rifle that looks too hollywood - but I'm concerened that the green might end up look cheap.

Thoughts?

I ordered an AICS 2.0 that should be here late August. I went with OD Green. You can buy and extra set of panels (of the opposite colour) and have the best of both worlds.

My other rifle has a black McMillan A5 stock so I wanted something different = green.

Both colours look very good, you can't go wrong with either.

I took what I could get. I ended up with a AICS 2.0 short action in black. They are next to impossible to get in Canada. Your choices are to order and wait, and wait, and wait, or grab a new one ASAP if you so happen upon one.

They are great stocks, either you love them and they fit you or you hate them.

As far as construction, you could drop it out of a plane and the worst thing to happen would be superficial damage to the plastic skins.

I appreciate the feedback - I've always liked the green, but since I've not actually seen one in person I was worried that a chunk of green plastic might end up looking like it was made by fisher price...

:)

So does anybody have any pics of these AICS ?

I've been looking at them for awhile and kinda stuck....really interested in pics of a black one!

Anybody know if the short action stock will fit a 22-250 and then fit a .308 should I pic up another gun and want to swap the action and barrel? (both remington heavy barrels)

The AICS will fit the standard Remington 700 short action, however the chassis and mags are designed to function with 7.62 X 51 / .308 Win cartridge.

Here is a pic of my Custom AICS rig in TW CADPAT:

I ordered mine from Wolverine - it was $1,105 (ACIS 1.5, long action). I also ordered a couple of spare mags along with it.

rennman, that looks darned pretty - I want mine to look like that. That rail you put on it for your scope... is that the one specific to the AICS, or an aftermarket one?

So... now that I've ordered it... I'm assuming that I can fit a 700 (7mm magnum) reciever and barrel in it? They are also sending me the 10 rnd mags... will those work with the 7mm cartridge?

Now... the 10 round mags are ok becasue they are made to fit a bolt action rifle, correct? Or will I need to get them pinned? The law seems to say that 10 round mags for bolt action rifles are fine, but then they specifically say that the lee enfield is allowed to have 10 round mags...

Is it just me, or are the gun laws in north american countries a little convoluted?

note: yeah... I do often buy things first and then figure out if they're what I want later. I can me accused of many things, but being fiscally responsible just isnt one of 'em.

To my knowledge, the 10 rnds mag is for the 308 only(short action).
An it is legal in bolt actions

In regards to the rail, it is a recommended option for long range shooting(20moa), many manufacturer makes them for the Remington

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I did tell the folks at Wolverine what I intended to use it for though, and they put the 10 rnd ones on my order form for me.

Think I should call back just to double check?

Edit: I just called and lo! I'd ordered the wrong ones! They're changing the magazines to the 5 rnd .300 ones. Thanks for saving me some grief.
