AICS for .223?

I've only used Mclennan barrels on my builds so my experience is limited, that said Tac Ord sourced my barrel. There are other "top notch" barrels out there.I choose the 1-9, since it will shoot lighter bullets, 55gr all the way up to 77gr.

Not yet my friend, as i have just finished my .308 3 week's ago...
BUT my last projet is working just fine with the AICS mag in .223 AND a .223 barreled remmy on top... i have just swapped the complete upper to try it.
Mil dot is right, Casey at Tac ordnance work is top notch, he have installed my pipe and chamber on the action and only have good comment for him..

BTW MILDOT, your rifle is beautyfull, almost same config as i whant my .223 project :D

Here is the work but like i said, the .223 upper is working good too

What buttstock do you have on that?

Otokiak: Thank you very much ! ! ! !

Because of you........ I will have a AICS chassis with .223 mag coming my way from Wolverine in the next few days !

Thanks you..... My fiancee has other wishes for you..... :kickInTheNuts: :D

If the short action (.233) in this case fits the stock could you get it to work with say a 22-250? It is a short action just the same. I know the cartridge is differant but I'm at work now and can't check my books to see if the differance is significant enough......

I'm sure the action would fit however I don't know if the mags will accept the 22-250 rd?
Just did a quick check for ya and no, the 22-250 rd won't fit. IIRC the 22-250 is a necked down .308 case?

Wonder if a guy could use the steel 308 clips then???? Thanks for checking for me!

Ok you owe me large buds LOL

I just checked and it fits the AE mag, but its a little short in the length, so it may not feed. However the AICS chassis uses different mags.My conversions use the AE mags. Here's a pic for comparison.

So a guy could make it work with your mags for 22-250? Thanks for the quickness, starting to misfire here just finished 12 hour shift.

No, the AE mags are for "bottom metal" conversions that use a standard stock, like Manners or McMillan. The AICS chassis uses it own mags, so I can't tell you if the 22-250 rd will feed in that mag since I don't have one. The .223 mags won't work, I'm sure of that.
Try a post on SnipersHide, I'm sure someone there has tried, before you spend the $1400.
BTW Wolverine is the "SME" here since he is a AI dealer, rep etc.

Thanks for the info man!!!

Who else makes 223 heavy barrels in twists 1:7, 1:8, 1:9 in heavy barrel? Also possibly 22 inch length?

Otokiak
Rankin Inelt, NU
CANADA

p.s. mildot, love your rifle ... did you paint the magazine & bipod?

Really nice rifles guys and great pics of the various AI bottom metals/mags. Will answer a whole lot of questions from shooters.

Otokiak, I can offer you Shilen and McGowen barrels as blanks. Gunsmith will cut to any length you want.

I can also offer you prefits for a Rem 700 which uses a nut for headspacing. These will come completely machined ready to headspace on your action.

Same concept as on a Savage.
