Im trying to decide between tactical stocks for a 700 and these two seem to be the most common options.

The AICS, in my opinion, is the most badass looking so lets just get that out of the way.

The AICS comes with its own trigger guard/mag well/bottom metal where as the mcmillian does not which would add additional cost to achieve a similar setup.

I guess that leaves questions like fitment. How do they both fit. Obviously you would want these both bedded but pretend bedding doesnt exist, which offers better out of the box fitment?

What about adjustability?

Help me decide what to get...?

I own both, so here a couple of quick points;
AICS weights more than the McMillan
AICS does not need to be "bedded" howver others may disagree on that point
Both are about the same price.
Two different styles of stocks, one is a high pistol grip type stock and the AICS is a thumb hole style.
If you go with the AICS 2.0 you can get a folder.

Remember personal preference and intended use may make the choice easier for ya?

I have both - the McM is more traditional and has a better 'feel'. Once you get past the plastic the AICS is, IMO, the better stock. Better in what way? Better in adjustability, better recoil manangement ( felt recoil ) and better (for me) in prone position. Downside to AICS is that with the 1.5 (non-folder) cheekpiece needs removal before bolt can be removed for cleaning - this is, however, a twenty second job with the correct Allen key.

MCM is still an excellent stock and above comments notwithstanding much will depend on your personal preference. MCM requires bedding whereas AICS like TRG does not ( some will disagree with that statement ).

Get your hands on both an shoulder them. I do not like the feel of the AICS at all. I have big hands, and find the grip too small.

If you're looking at McMillian, also consider Manners. I have both a McMillian A5 and Manners T4, they are very similar. The Manners is a bit thicker in the grip, which I like better.

Also look at these guys:

Never seen their stocks, but they are a Canadian company.

Just to clarify, do you mean that both are the same price in that for bottom metal to fit a mag included on an A5 its about the same for the AICS or have I been mislead on pricing?

wolverine pricelist shows $955 for 1.5 SA
Mcmillian website shows $498USD or $750 from JW

I purchased the McMillan from ATRS, and when you add the finish and the cheek piece its ends up being close.I believe my McMillan was about a $1000 out the door with a 6 month wait.

Just to clarify.
The 498.00 USD McMillan's retail is stock only, no pad, no cups, no studs, no adj. cheek, no pillars and no shipping.
My 750.00 USD is LOP spacer system, KMW adj. cheek (the best there is bar none) 2 cups on LH side and a bipod stud and 2 machined in pillars. This is 50.00 less than McMillan's retail.
If you want a special order from me then you'll get it even cheaper.
I can also order up a Manners for you, I'm his importer.
These are the real prices boys, straight from the horses mouth!!

I was hoping you might post something in here. Good to know the details straight from the horses mouth. This will make my decision more informed and thus, easier. Thanks.

Is there anywhere else other than wolverine that supplies the AICS?

Just to make a comment here and I'm not attacking anyone. There is a retail price on McMillan stocks. If you are paying more money than Mcmillan's own retail + 55.00 shipping to Canada + Canadian taxes then you are getting hosed and that's just a fact. You should pay the same or less with special orders. Don't ever pay more. McMillan doesn't charge any extra fees to Canadian dealers. Fact. I just want to pass that info onto people here because Canadians need fair prices.

All I can say is that McMillan ships to Canada and I know what the fees are because I've been working with McMillan stocks for 5 years. No reason to jack the prices in Canada.

Just shoot them a call and ask if they ship to Canada.

Well right now all my money is tied in the SCAR, LOL :(
That said, I went with Rick at ATR because I thought that they were an ITAR item, and didn't want to do the paperwork.I also needed Rick to do some smith work as well. This is a good FYI for folks.

I don't understand what importer means. Does this mean you are exclusive in supplying these in Canada?

Manners and I are working together as their Canadian stocking dealer for sales in Canada and international. We have a bulk order in for stocking here in Canada. We have all permits for all Canadian orders to come through me and from here can also accommodate international orders too. There is another fella who can not be named on their site for Canada but he just stocked a couple and he has to get them from me now too.
