Hey guys just was curious, if anyone has an aimpoint clone, and if so who makes the best one, so far I've only found out that NCStar does, and there is a fellow on the EE selling them as well, although I'm not sure who makes them. It would be appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction!

Thanks

FWIW I just purchased an Aimpoint Micro clone from Ki11ercane and am very impressed by the unit. I am not going to run 500-600 dollar optics on my Archangel 10-22. I do use this rifle for running and gunning and skills and drills as seen in the various Magpul videos.

My overall impression was that this seems like a great value for money. I have no false illusions that this is not the real thing. so my expectations weren't that high.

The dot is a 4moa which is bigger than my NC Star for comparison. All metal construction, click adjustments are audible and tactile in feel. I got the quick detach base with mine, but personally for my head, I found it sat a bit high to get a solid cheek weld. I run a 1/2 inch riser and its great. I thought at first with how small this unit is, that I would have a hard time with target acquisition. Not a problem at all. I do like it better than the NC which is a bigger bulkier unit.

We ran about a dozen course of fire yesterday with them and we were sliding into prone, jumping back into Supine positions, running weak side, strong side drills, urban prone in about a foot of snow. The unit didn't fog at all. The dot stayed bright and true for the 4.5 hours we endured the cold. -20 with 30-40 K winds. The lenses on both units were icing up by the end and when I got home to clean them, it looked like they had condensation inside them. After a few hours, they both seem fine. The laser on the NC star works when it wants to and my #4 brightness setting doesn't work either. I always run it on 5 anyway. That was a significant advantage I found with the aimpoint clone. on the 1 bright setting, I can clearly see the dot on a bright sunny day. The NC Star needs at least 3 to pick it up on a bright sunny day.

I don't think you'll have a problem on a .22 rifle. I put mine through just as much abuse as anyone running an AR platform. Theres just no recoil to contend with on mine.

I have one that I bought from that jacky guy about 5 years ago. I used it on my Nork-14 for about 500 rounds and it survived, though the knurled part of the knob came off (could be put back on, just didn't bother).

Still have it packed away as I bought an aimpoint M4s when my money situation improved. If you want my clone PM me.

I ordered 2 scopes from Ki11ercane this week. He tested them for recoil on 7.62 x 39. Recoil on my M-305 is not worse, so I am pretty sure that they work on that caliber as well. Not sure about the 7.62 x 54R as the recoil on those can be insane.

Anything cheaper will break within 10 rounds on an SKS, not sure about .223, maybe it will last, maybe not.
