Aimpoint Comp M2/ML2

re

Im concidering selling my EoTech 552 to try out an Aimpoint Setup. What can you guys tell me about the differances between the two (M2/ML2) and do they compete with the EoTech? Or is going this route taking a step down...

I use both Eotech and Aimpoint. I have a Micro T1 as well as two M2 Comps. As for Eotech I have 553 SOCOM, 552.A65 and recently sold 511.a65. I really like them equally. I would not sell off one to buy another....but did sell my 511.a65 to buy a Trijicon RX01 Reflex for my SA CQB. Not a preference decision but just like the look of the Reflex on a SA rifle.

If you have a budddy at the range with the M2 comp, give his a try before selling off the Eotech. The difference between the M2 and ML2 is that the M2 is night vision compatible (has more low settings that coincide with NVD`s) is about all.

For Aimpoint Comp M4

Battery life: Over 8 years of continuous (day and night) use at pos 12 of 16 and over 3 years at pos 13 of 16.
(at room temperature and with a quality battery)
Typically 500 000 h at NVD setting

For eotech

Battery Life: 1,100 continuous hours at nominal setting 12

So take your pick 45 days or 3-8 years

I have the Aimpoint M4. Costs a bit more but has it's own mount, uses AA batteries and 8 year battery life.

I like the regular M2, M3 and M4 over the micro just because I like to have easy access to the intensity dial. My eyes see starburst if it is cranked up too high (some people don't)

They are very solidly built, and have absurdly long battery life. Very rugged, and NOT prone to any sort of failures (be it battery compartment related or not)

The M2 or ML2 is a good optic, however it may be more difficult for you to adjust to the 4moa dot. As many have said before, you can turn down the intensity to have a smaller appearing dot.

I had an ML3, and it was an awesome optic, I ended up selling it and the QR mount I got for it, to fund a T1 Micro, which I love even more :D (debating going for a second one for my shotgun, since I put my T1 on my USC/UMP45 conversion)
