Hi there,

I am running a M4 on my Robinson XCR. I zeroed it at 100 yrds.

I am having no problems so far hitting the gong at 200yrds and at 300yrds from a bench rest. We have a steel "pig" (36"H x 48"W)at 300yrds and silhouette (48"H x 36"W) at 200yrds.

I have just picked up a new gong 12"x36" T400 steel plate.

My plan was to place this at 100yrds and then work it back from there to 200 and 300.

Should i expect consistent hits (if i do my part) with this set up ?

I am running factory ammo, no zoom on the M4, and i will be shooting from a benchrest.

Remington bullet drop for .223 is:

100yrd zero
200yrd -2.7 inches
300yrd -10.9 inches

Its got a 2moa dot, so it should cover 6 inches at 300 yards.

If you can hold the rifle that steady, you should be able to hit it. I would say a 3X magnifier would make hits a little more consistant, but as long as you can do it, the optic shouldn't be the limiting factor :)

I recently bought a Micro T1 for my AR180B, I hope to be able to at least ring the 200 yd steel gong. Instead of a 100 yd zero, I'm going to set it up with a 50 yd zero. 50 yd zeros seem popular with 223 since you can stay within +/- 2 inches out to 250 yds.

If you opt for a 250 yd zero (1.85 inches high at 100 yds) then it will stay within +/- 2.5 inches until 290 yds.
