Aimpoint question? CompC3 vs CompM2?

@ Scocou :

Thanks for the tip. I'm starting to really like the 2MOA idea over the 4 I've been using. Will report back when it comes in from backorder at Wolverine.
NP, the 2MOA is great. Only time it falls short is against a really bright background (i.e.: white target on sunny day). It can be hard to pick-up the dot unless on maximum setting. I look forward to hearing a report about the C3...

Had an ML3 setup on the shorty last year. Physically, it's the same as the C3, M3, M2, and ML2. In interest of resale value I didn't torture test it but it did what it does as advertised.

It felt too massive when mounted, especially with the rubber cover. Looked too disproportionate up top. The pictured rig below hovered around 8.5-9 lbs.

I have a compm4s 2MOA... I don't shut it off. I realize that it is not the exact product you're looking for but it is a very nice piece of kit. I like and dislike the bikini covers though.

So far I only have about a month on the battery.

As I moved my eye left/right/up/down behind the optic, the dot moved also.

If you set the red dot on target, with the optic and target stationary, you should see the red dot on target at all times, even if you change the angle you are viewing the optic. It won't be parallax free at extremely close distances though (like 10ft). If you're using an optic at 10ft, you're going to get more error from height over bore than you are from your optic.

Someone in the EE sells Larue stuff. AMD stuff is quite giood, the only seller I know of is Socom Supply and I've had ZERO luck buying one from them, have been trying to get a hold of them for over a week - no joy.

If anyone knows where else in Canada to get AMD mounts, please do post the source! I need a standard height AD68.

I ordered one of the AD Recon mounts from Brownells with no issues a while back. for a comp c3 would I want a standard or high mount? I have a 10.5 lmt with the a2 front sight.

I've been trying to confirm with someone, but no luck so far. I *think* the standard height will give you bang-on co-witness, and the tall mount would give you lower 1/3 co-witness.

Do Aimpoint optics come with factory rings? Thinking of getting one instead of an Eotech which I have been eyeing for a while but I'm starting to lean on the other side. :p

The standard height Larue LT150 or LT129: the standard AR/M16 front site will be in the lower third of the glass when the dot is visually centered. This is the preferred way of doing business. Having the dot "co-witness" with the front site on a zero power optic makes things way too cluttered for my likes, and will block most of the target you are laying on.
So, the standard height mount is the "high" mount, and the non-standard is the lower one (like the LT152).

The lower mount like the Larue LT152 are for other applications.

I'm not a fan of "co-witnessing",, even the sound of the word gives me the willies.

Well, just got off the phone with Armseast. They will have the AD68 series of ADM mounts in next week, so I pre-ordered. They weren't sure if I need the high mount or the low one.

In this case, I'm mounting to a VZ858 NEA handrail and co-witnessing (hopefully) bottom 1/3 with MBUS buis mounted on the same plane as the handguard rail using NEA rail parts.

Anyone know if the ADM high mount gives standard lower 1/3 co-witness using standard AR15 sights? If yes, I'll be fine. If not, then I will have to switch my order to the standard height mount.

how is the dot size on the aimpoints measured? is it measured on the lowest setting or on the brightest?

Im looking to order a 2moa aimpoint but other than the compm4s nobody seems to have any in stock and i think the m4 would be too big and heavy for my 10.5' upper. thoughts?
