Aimpoint T1/H1 vs. Aimpoint CompM4s?

I just ordered my first black rifle (12.5" barrel) and I'm looking for a nice optic to put on it.

The application is primarily CQB to 100m, and also reaching out to 200m (would possibly add a magnifier at a later date).

I've read a number of posts here that recommend both the Aimpoint T1/H1, and others that recommend the Aimpoint CompM4s.

Is the T1/H1 simply an updated version of the M4s, or is there more to it than that?

Apologies if this has been discussed before but I have 1hr and 53 minutes to figure out an answer if I want to take advantage of the Questar sale. :)

TIA.

The Micro T-1 is a micro-ized red dot.

T-1/H-1
+ Light Weight
+ Less expensive than CompM4
+ Super tough
+/- Included mount
- No flip caps without extra mount etc.
- CR2032 batteries
50,000 hrs battery life

CompM4/M4s
+ AA batteries
+ Even more indestructible than a T-1
+ Flip caps
+ ARD
+ Pretty much indestructible
- Heavy
- More expensive
80,000 hrs battery life

You honestly aren't gaining much by going with the M4/M4s. I love my Micro's.

Excellent, thanks Justin.

Makes sense to me, I'm ordering the T1 now.

You made the right choice now get a KAC mount from OST or larue, or if you are tight on cash a DD/OST.

Showcasing my ignorance here...but why would one of those mounts be preferable to the standard mount that comes with the T1?

Great choice, I ordered a 2MOA T1 from them at 12:01AM when the sale started :D

As the poster above me stated, get a Larue mount if you can find one.

My 4MOA T1 ran on my LT660 mount for over a year, and now the 2MOA T1 sits on it. 4MOA went to my benelli m4.

Rock solid and return to zero.

Got it thanks. I'll order it up.

good call, i have a couple of T1 micros with the Daniel Defence mounts and they are awesome.

the only thing you might find after time, is that having some magnification is always handy. i would suggest a good short dot or a 1-4 variable in this case over an Aimpoint with a magnifier, only because you require less rail space and there are less mounts and switches to contend with...

but in any case, the T1 is going on my next build, as it is a 7.5 PDW and it does not require any magnification.

With the KAC T-1/H-1 mount, MAKE SURE you do NOT over torque when installing the shims (Read the instructions!). They are a polymer, not aluminium, and WILL crush easily.

Most QD mounts are 'co-witness' height for AR-15's (about 1.4" high, from rail base to center of optic/sights). Better question would be whether you want Lower 1/3 Co-Witness, or Absolute Co-Witness.

the DD mount is set up for 1/3 co-witness

here are a few crappy pics I just took, but it gives you the basic idea
