Aimpoint T1 - Weird line coming off the dot?

Good day CGN's,

So I purchased a new T1 2moa from DS Tactical just after Christmas, and have it mounted in a DD lower 1/3 mount on a carbine. Haven't even had a chance to blast with it mounted yet (been crazy busy). Last night while playing with it, I noticed a thin red line coming off the 4 oclock position coming from the dot (estimate it at about 6 or 7 moa based on the size of the dot) while using my right eye, and with the left eye there are two coming from the 9 and 11 oclock same size. This is with having both eyes open or closed.

It is not very distinct while just throwing the rifle onto a point of aim; it just makes the dot not very clear/blurry, but when focusing you can really see the definition.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

I changed the battery, looked for any damage (has not even left the house let alone been dropped or bounced around), checked the mounts, everything. Cannot figure out why it is doing this. My last T1 did not have this problem and it was used quite a bit, and neither does buddy's.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried taking pictures but none work to show what I am trying to explain.

This may be your problem. Read through this thread. It gives a possible cause and a way to identify that particular cause. Not likely a problem with the Aimpoint.

I just mounted an Aimpoint Micro Hunter today and rather than a round red dot, I see a bunch of squiggly lines that look somewhat like a jellyfish with long tentacles. I did the photo thing with the I-pad and also looked through a pin hole in a piece of paper. The dot is round just like it is supposed to be in the photo and through the pin hole. If I had known that astigmatism affected the sight picture in red dot sights in this fashion, I would have picked up a Leupold 1.5-5x20 Vari X iii scope or maybe their little prismatic sight with the etched reticle. Yes it sucks to find out I have astigmatism.

Thanks for the link.

Just checking it again this morning, and in the sun there does not seem to be any problem; only in the low light/dark. Or maybe it is only noticeable with the contrast. I do not think it is the eyes as buddy's T1 doesn't have this.

Its most likely your eyeball.

I have an astigmatism and a lot of red dot sights look more like a comma. This is most pronounced with the aimpoint T1/H1s.

My PRO, and LM2 not so much.

Dont look at the dot itself. Look at your target through it and I bet its fine right? When I got mine, I was focusing on the dot before it was mounted and it started getting big and pixelated. When I looked through it but focused on a target or object it was perfect.

If still screwed up a bit, probably your eye like the guys say.

Indoors the red dot is always very distorted.
