I have a Slavia 622 that a generous member GAVE me a while back. My boys are now starting to learn to shoot, so i am getting everything ready. I test fired the Slavia and found that it puts a nice dent into a pine board and penetrates one or two pieces of cardboard but that's about it. If that is how much "power" it generates, then I am fine with that as it is a training tool for my kids. However if it should have more power, and needs some maintenance, then how/what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

The piston seal is a few layers of leather stacked up on the front of the spring, you need to get oil on to that leather, when you break the barrel open you will see a breach seal, likely leather also, on the barrel end and a hole on the receiver end. Stand the receiver vertical and drop some good leather oil into the little hole and let it seap/soak into the leather over night, not a bad idea to repeat. Check around to see what oil to use. Also do not ignore the little breach seal it could use a good soaking also.
