If its the one I'm thinking of, I bought one earlier this year and gave it away after my daughter shot it a few times. I bought her a hw30 from the airgunforum store.
There are two different types I can't remember if it's the x3 or x5. One of them have a chisel point where the barrel breaks, the other has a round ball. The one with the ball is easier to break the barrel initially on. The one with the chisel point may lock up tighter but takes a sharp pull to initially open the barrel.

Well I picked up a stoeger x3 tac was 140$ All in from the store locally, can’t argue with that. Hoping he really likes it when I give it to him this weekend. His bday isn’t until the 24th, but I won’t be able to see him then so I always give him his bday gift either the week before or week after, depends on the weekend that he comes to my house.

None the less I think he’ll be happy with it, as it’s his own gun not grandpas or uncle Andy’s lol. Something for himself to enjoy and have fun with, also good way to teach him about gun safety in a much safer way then say a 22.

I just got the Crosman Optimus as mentioned above. It was $250 at cabellas, $220 at crappy tire, and $170 at princess auto.
Walked out of princess auto with pellets and the gun with taxes for $200 flat. Just letting ya know the best deal I found if you go that route. 👍

Oh I gave him a his pellet gun for his bday which was august 24th

I’d look at weihrauch rifles. Had one when I was young and they are a different class. Really well made and years down the line you’ll still sell them and get most off your cash back. The HW77 has break barrel on a catch below the main barrel. Pellet feds into a chamber on top. Wasn’t a hard rifle to #### but could knock pigeons out off 70 foot trees all day. I had the .22 version. I’d look for second hand in good condition as they are absolute machines for the field.

There are several advantages to an air gun over a .22.
Airgun ammo is way cheaper than .22 rimfire. $1.80 per 100 shots vs $12 for .22.
An airgun might be more money than a .22, but that’s because they are more complicated than a .22.
A kid needs (and wants) to shoot lots. It’s fun.
Co2 is fun, but not very good in colder weather and is expensive.
A break barrel, .177 I think is the way to go. Slavia’s are great, but there are some smaller Diana and other good guns that would be perfect for him. Get him to try cocking different ones before you buy (if possible). He will also build up strength the more he shoots.
Let us know how you make out.

Awesome I’m sure little man was stoked!

Oh he was quite stoked ! Lol once he opened it “dad can we go shoot it?” Lol. He’s also now excited about shooting old pumpkins now lol. As well as trying the 22 bolt action lol. He’s had a bLast with the air gun I bought him so far lol.
