Air rifle and pistol removed from the 2019 Canada Winter Games as a sport

Guns are too icky. Remove it from the Winter Games and -POOF! Everybody feels better!

There is no decent reason for removing air guns from any "games".

There are many instances of special interest groups and politicians screwing over our rights. This is NOT one of them. A better understanding of the workings of the games is necessary. Knee-jerk reactions are not.

Each community that hosts the games go through a lengthy selection process for each of the sports that will be on the program. As you might imagine, there is a diverse amount of criteria such as population, facilities, funding, registrations, etc.

Further, a sport is ineligible to compete on two consecutive Canada Games. As Target Shooting WILL BE in the upcoming 2015 Canada Games, it is not eligible to be selected again until 2019. And as you can see, from the large amount of available programs, ALBERTA organizers opted not to chose this particular sport. It will reappear alongside many other programs which have not been in the games for a handful of years:

Interesting, well our team won medals in the last two games and hopefully will do the same next February in Prince George.

I wonder how hard it would be to get centerfire rifles back for biathalon? We can get an All Swiss division for proper style and proper salute to the firearms lab.
