is it truth that spring powered air rifles need to have air rifle scopes designed for recoil in both directions? I have heard that statement before and wondered if there was any truth in this? I purchased a 1000fps winchester spring rifle a while back. I was given a tacso 3-9 x40 scope from a friend. I mounted it and it seemed to shoot fairly well. The origional rifled sights were not particularily great, so i opted for the scope. After a short time its seems as though its point of aim shifts. The rings are tight, scope mounting screws are tight. So this has me wondering if its possible that the scope cannot take the recoil from the spring?? I know it sounds goofy but i expect more out of it. As a kid an old 495fps spring rifle shot way more accuately that this 5 fold. Sometimes you can shoot a dime sized target at about 25 yards. The next you might be lucky to hit a pop can??Any iders?
