Air sleeping pad

Strange, Iv heard nothing but good about expeds warranty. My first pad made 6 years, replaced no questions asked other then a photo of the blown baffle. It’s actually the longest Iv ever had a pad that didn’t pop or leak

I personally never had problems with there warranty, but warranty is useless when you are on day 3 of a 10 day trip, not cool to “sleep”(you won’t be sleeping) on the ground for 7 days! So I decided after #6 to sell it and buy thermarest!

Based on research and a solid recommendation I picked up an Exped Downmat 7 a few years ago. I sleep mostly on the ground under a spike tarp, temps to -15, -20. The integrated pump is a pain but it does work. Some folks can’t handle the crinkling noise of some of the other popular lightweight mats.

Nice. Glad they looked after you. Mine failed a few years before your warranty claim, and neither Exped or MEC would do anything.

Just like leupold scopes. Good thing they have great warranty…..cause you’re using it all the time!
😁

You’re going to make some heads explode!

Have used thermorest inflatables and the 'Z' mats ..... have a large 'double' that I keep at home for the kids... the only gripe I had with the smaller camping thermorest is that the sleeping bag would slide off too easily .. there was a spray you could use to make it sticky but wasnt entirely satisfactory. I have lost interest in lightweight camping and now prefer tents I can stand up in, cots and a Woods 3 star :)

I’m still rocking a first Gen Exped 9dlx, so far super good, super comfy, always warm.
Have had the old self inflating 1.5” Thermarest, it came unglued at its seam, then I tried the Exped , still have it.

It’s just my experience. Iv never had an air pad last more then 2-3-4 years until I went exped. I see it as a good return for the amount of nights it got used and abused, on basically a disposable item. Pick your poison, but pick a comfortable one.

I’m happy to take anyone’s MEC and arcteryx stuff if they feel the need to abandon it in the name of ideological consistency

I picked a klymit static v insulated mattress up yesterday. Will try to use this weekend to see if I like it. That kid to all for the discussion
