Airgun Oil?

I went to a hobby shop and asked for the lightest grade of silicon shock oil for RC cars. I paid about $6 for a rather large bottle of the stuff. I read on various boards that it works well as a chamber oil so I thought I would try it. I have 5 springers that shoot from 500 to 950 fps. I tried it in every one of them. Two drops, work it back and forth, then fire five shots to clear it out. No dieseling in any of them. Two of the five picked up about 10 fps, the other three showed no obvious change. I shoot a lot. If I treat a gun after a tin of pellets, I should have enough oil for about 100 years.

You can buy a liter of "non detergent oil" at CT for $2.95 been using it for years never had a problem with seals or anything.

LeBaron sells both the Chamber oil and the Pellgun oil, they are both made by Crossman,
I wouldn't put anything else into my airguns, the oil is cheap and the right stuff.

Different oils for different guns. There is no one oil for all air guns.
If your gun has leather seals than you lucky. If it has silicone, rubber or neoprene then you out of luck.
Use only what is recommended for your gun or you will destroy seals. For example Crossman Pelgun Oil is only for CO2 guns.

To add lubricant to a piston seal, which should not be very often and only very sparingly, use silicone chamber oil such as this http://www.dlairgun.com/Maintenance/RWS/006_Chamber_Lube.html or this http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php/crosman-break-barrel-silicone-chamber-oil-p-111 Use Pellgun oil on the seals of CO2 guns. Remember to use silicone oil very sparingly, that is only a couple of drops through the transfer port. It might be a good idea to hold the gun vertically to get the oil in the piston chamber. Work the action to get the oil spread out.

I use silicone grease sparingly for all oring seals, moly grease for hinge points and metal slidey bits and silicon chamber lube for the piston seal. Please try to keep the chamber clean. IMHO atf isn't compatible with standard butyl o rings, but if you swap viton orings in they are compatible.
