Took some time to chase squirrels around a couple weeks ago( since my deer season is done ).
First real hunt with my Benjamin Discovery .177 and JSB heavys.
I shot the first three in the head, then made a lung shot on the fourth. He made it to a hole before he expired!! :( The next two were also head shots. Ranges were from 5 yards to 35 yards.

That is a beautiful gun, I love how the higher end guns have wood stocks and look no different than centrefire rifles. I guess it should be that way since there are airguns out there more expensive than a 10/22 or shotgun and the higher fps puts it in the legal "firearm" class anyway as far as the law is concerned.

After the initial expense of the gun itself though, the ammo is very cheap for both .177 and .22, that is the bonus for me and also that anyone over 18 can buy a sub-500 fps airgun.

What ammo did you use? There are so many out there.

OhCanada i used JSB Heavys in .177 cal. I have not really had much of a chance to test a lot of pellets yet. I tried a couple others so far but these heavys really shot well, so until i get more time to test they are what i will use. You are not kidding when u say there are so many different kind s of pellets out there, a fella could go broke buying different one to try.
Piratepete, i too was happy with the stock i recieved. I actually have a backup stock that i am looking to modify. I want to put an adjustable comb on it and maybe an adjustable butt plate as well

Heading out in the morning to see if i can find some more for the pot. WolfyW what area in S/W Ontario u in ?

I'm as far south as one can go. Only a 1 week season here, despite the fact we're now infested. I do occasionally head to the Strathroy area. The season starts earlier and runs later.

Nice to see people into hunting squirrels. It seems to be an underutilized game animal here in Canada.

I have been looking at one of those pcp guns. Where did you get it is at a pain to pump up does it have good power? I wanted to get one for just shooting targets around the yard being that there saying ammo may go up as high as 40% in 2013. I was looking at getting a .22 version

I have had deleted about 10 lately using my diana m48 22 with crosman hollow points and my tx200 177 with jsb exacts. On van isls the eastern is invasive and our biologist ask that we kill them. Most are grey but some ard black, maybe 5 %.

Precharged pneumatic is great. I can't comment on pumping one up, as I use a scuba tank to charge mine. Depending on the power level you will get between 40-100 shots before velocity changes enough to care and the need to recharge. Mine is in 22 cal and I like it because you can readily get quality ammo for a reasonable price. 177 would be the same or better for that. .20 or .25 cal would be more of a challange. Cheap crossman hollow points shoot very well in mine and would dispatch a squirrel at 50 yards. I get a peak of 970 fps out of mine with a good number of shots in the 800 fps or greater range.

Congrats on the successful hunt FootedShaft. I grew up hunting small game and waterfowl in SW Ontario. I've been seriously considering an air rifle for small game hunting due to the dirt cheap ammo cost and ammo availability issues due to these now recurring US panics. Seeing your post has sold me on air rifles.

Split my time between the Chatham-Kent area and London. Been to Tilsonburg to. Spent a couple days working on a tobacco farm there before I decided school was a lot easier.
