Airguns (pistols/handguns) No Longer Sold at LeBaron

Had the day off today and one of my things to do, aside from getting stuff for my daughter's birthday this weekend, is to stop by LeBaron and see what new airguns have come in. Well, it was a bit of a surprise for me to discover that as of two weeks ago, they no longer carried airguns, in terms of air pistols and airguns that are pretty close-resemblance cousins to their firearm counterparts (ie. Colt 1911, Beretta M92). But moreover, even BB guns they no longer stock. They only stock air rifles now. What happened, I asked. They said it was a owner's decision, that was all they knew. All the air pistols got pulled off the shelves and it is no longer showing on their online catalog.

I wonder if it has anything to do with this CBC marketplace report (which I have to say is nauseatingly biased against guns in general). They mentioned LeBaron's online site and catalog as a place to get airguns...the inference wasn't good. It seemed to coincide when when LeBaron decided to pull their air pistols in terms of timing.

Unfortunately the CBC report seems to mix airsoft and BB and pellet guns and rifles, and doesn't seem to recognize that there are firearms grade airguns that do need a licence...instead, everything is lumped as "easy to get". There were also some embellished moments, but I won't ruin it for you - have a look at the video.

The LeBaron gunshop person suggested that the owners are leaving the air rifles "for now". Not sure if that means there is consideration for removing them in the future, but if you live near a LeBaron's, it's a good time to get stuff now anyway... (stuff there from today (13th) through to the 22nd has no tax. And if you have a LeBaron club card, it's another 10% off on top. Unfortunately, the no tax discount does not apply to firearms and ammo. I've always found LeBaron to be a great place to buy guns and ammo (and always the cheapest I've found) - it's too bad they're no longer carrying air pistols.

You are correct. LeBaron pulled many of their airguns immediately following the CBC Marketplace story on "fake guns". There is lots of discussion on this topic over on the Canadian Airgun Forum if you're interested.

Personally, I will never buy from LeBaron again. Through this gesture they have clearly indicated their anti-gun bias and shown how little respect they have for law-abiding airgunners. There are many other reputable airgun dealers in Canada...many of whom have lower prices than LeBaron too!
 
I've said that before. They've been cutting back on guns for years, and no longer sell handguns (real ones) at all. I got the impression some guys here didn't buy it, glad to see some back up. Hopefully Madame Le Baron goes t@ts up real soon. Jelly spined wench.
 
Well, one of the guys at the shop once told me that their airguns (pistols and rifles combined) outsold their powderburners. But I also know that the head of the gunshop wasn't a fan of them either, but I guess in this case, that wasn't a factor.

With my LeBaron clubcard, I haven't found too many places that give a lower price...but I guess it's time to check around.
 
Have you tried Bass Pro Shop?? Not sure if they sell air pistol. But having mentioned that when I was looking for the S&W M&P40 air pistol back in Dec 08 I checked a surplus store on Yonge St, west side between College and Wellsley. I think they're called Central Surplus and they had all the replica air pistols you can dream of including the blow back versions, ranging from $100 - $250.

If your ever in Peterborough you can call up Airgun Source, this is where I bought my M&P air pistol.
 
Forget Bass Pro..........Vaughn will not allow pistol sales of ANY sort, I asked. As regards LeBaron, I quit going there years ago.
 
It probably attracted loads of kids coming in to by these air pistols.

I'm looking for a good place to get a Crosman Backpacker 2289. Canadian Tire has one, but 120.00 is too much money for this air gun.

With the attitude of those in the gun shop, they can hardly attract any adults. Attracting kids should be the least of thier worries.

However, I find the rest of the people in the other departments helpful.

Woodsman, I bought a Crosman Backpacker 2289 from LeBaron a week ago for $90 they had a bunch left.......... Does anyone know a cheap place for a Crosman 2240, Canadian Tire had them on sale for $46 today (which is half the price i have ever seen them at) but all the stores where out except 2 and one was a floor model missing and broken parts, and the other store couldnt find the last one they had in stock and told me it must of been stolen.

When did they stop?

I know they don't stock them, but I was up there about a month and a half ago and a guy in the gunshop was on the phone with a customer taking an order for a Glock.
 
Git Dang it your right and im pissed! went to lebarons today and was gunna pick up a beretta bb pistol and the guy told me they dont sell em anymore, they only sell the lame ones that dont look like real guns. i am flipping ticked at lebarons for all their horse patuty and crud they pull. they anti's are gettin to us boys, this is how it starts!!! we need to do something before its too late!
 
Talked with the boys at LeBaron's on Monday about the airguns. I was picking up some goodies with their sale this week....no taxes + 10% off on most stuff if you have a member card.

Anyway, the gentleman told me that they will still sell the usual rifles, but no pistols that are a "knockoff" of the real thing. I guess with the crimes in T.O. area, and punks using air guns to hold people up, places like LeBaron's are getting a bad rap.:(

This leaves them selling the Crosman 2240 and 1377 pistols. The 2240 is probably the best low-priced air pistol anyway. LOTS of mods to do to make it better/stronger if you want a good pistol. ;)

Too bad about the other guns, but it really isn't surprising. The unfortunate downfall of making air guns look and feel like the real thing is that you will eventually have to treat them like the real thing.:cool:

It's not just Toronto. My understanding was it is chain wide.

They reason I was given was because of the CBC Marketplace (or whatever the hell the show is called) episode on "look-a-likes", Madame Le Baron (chick who owns the stores) made the decision to pull them. Coward, plain and simple.

So, it's Lebarons fault that some moron used a fake gun in a crime and was shot by the police? I say the criminal accecpted that risk a soon as they commited the crime. God forbid we blame the criminal.:rolleyes:

FYI the morons in the gun room at Lebarons (woodbine location ) are anti handgun I wonder if any staff or management ever read this forum if they do they either dont care or dont get the message that their operation stinks ,so any people can't be wrong :bangHead::bangHead:
 
Spending a few extra bucks at "mom and pop" gun stores is part of my philosophy . They are independant of stupid biased managers.

Shop around , there are many places that are very competitive.
If they support me , I support them.
