Airline ban (mini rant)

Why are you getting upset over something that you have control over?
The control is called freedom to pick and choose the airline one wishes to travel with.
The rant is no different than what the antis are purporting.
I chose to not support the Good Doctor (sic) for my own reasons... and being a trophy hunter was not the reason I chose to not support that guy.
Relax, inhale... exhale....

Aha!! You hate dentists!
Sorry Rob, couldn't resist!

air canada or westjet do not fly in or out of africa

its all just hot air

It's a lot more than just hot air. Every time I hunt in Africa, I end up travelling on a Star Alliance booking -- Edmonton-Toronto-Frankfurt on Air Canada, Frankfurt-Joberg on Lufthansa, and then South African Airways to wherever I'm hunting. The return trip in reverse with the same airlines. It's all one booking. Air Canada most certainly does have a role to play in that transport, unless the idea is to leave the hunting trophies in Frankfurt. Of course, it matters little with Lufthansa singing the same tune and SAA likely ending up there as well the way things are going.

Things will only get worse before they get worse...

It won't take long for ocean export of trophies to start becoming the norm if all airlines jump on this bandwagon. The outfitters in Africa will partner with a packager to prepare the cargo for ocean transport and voila!

Which is exactly how my next shipment is coming in. Call me paranoid if you will though, but I keep waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat imagining that Justin Trudeau has won the election and declared Canada closed to all hunting trophy imports...

Oh the humanity...

Your trophies don't ride with you though. Correct me if I'm wrong but FedEx or another of the large airplane cargo companies are your trophies ride home. No?

Still I agree, it's scary. It could also be inconvenient to those Canadians that don't live close to a main airport that international cargo planes fly to, meaning AC cargo would do the final flight, which I guess won't happen now.

you will soon discover how less expensive it is .... will he stops hunting in his homeland too maybe ....

Well longbranch if the intention hunting a lion, or any big cat or animal that you know you won't eat or cannot eat to begin with is definitely little man syndrome. Example the dentist. Another $0.02 of mine is that sport hunting with guns isn't really a sport, bows yes, Spears definitely.

Do you mean the sea otters or eagles the Canadian natives hunt for the fur/feathers but don't eat are little man syndrome?
Careful, you may be labeled racist.

My $0.02 is that unless you're going to eat what you hunt or protecting livestock it all little man syndrome therapy.

Ironically, this is one of the main reasons for the lion's declining numbers. Sadly though, most people aren't interested in facts and sport hunters are an easier target than making a political statement about a certain population.

I suspect more lions are killed by poisening and poaching than 'legitimate sport hunters'. If in fact old Cecil was in fact truly 'poached' then that is a crime. Otherwise at 13 years old he would have been the perfect lion to take out. Likely within months jackels and hyenas would have torn him up.
Just this (little) mans opinion.
Cheers

Turns out that Cecil the Lion was no choirboy. Photos have
surfaced of Cecil in the act of killing and eating Gary the
Gazelle, a favorite of both locals and visitors at Zimbabwe’s
Hwange National Park, where he delighted onlookers with
his trademark leap while clicking his heels (no small feat,
pardon the pun). Gary was 12 years old and leaves behind
his beloved wife, Greta Gazelle, and their 8 offspring, whose
names don’t translate to English.

Gary’s long-time friend, Zeke the Zebra said, “A lot of people
have been crying over Cecil lately, but let me tell you, I’ve
lost a lot of friends and family to him. He was a real animal,
and I won’t be crying no tears over his demise.”

I don't know if my experience was typical but I expect it is. The trophies were shipped to a taxidermist long after I had left Africa, had it been the case that I couldn't include them with my checked luggage, it wouldn't have been an issue, but it does make airline choice easier.
