It would be an improvement, but it would not eliminate recoil. The only recoil weight distributing thing system that I ever saw that actually worked (I forget the name but it was a bullpup gun, possibly smg) was one where when fired the bolt rotated downwards into the grip and actually forced the gun downwards, so really the only recoil was pushing the person backwards but it would keep the sights on target the entire time.

Does this mean that the AK-107 is not prohibited. Since it functions so vastly different, and has limited parts exchangability, to the AK-47 design there is surely no way it could be considered a variant.

If the RCMP can decide a blowback .22 that looks like an MP5, but shares no parts or design, is an MP5 variant, what do you think they would call this?

There are rumours, that Alberta will not renew RCMP contract...I realize that this is federal thing and Alberta still will be part of Canada...anyway, some stupid thought, would it mean that RCMP gun classification system will be no longer valid in Alberta?

That won't make any difference. Firearms law is federal.

Firearms law is federal, true. But look at how ATTs are issued. Vast differences accross the country in terms of how to apply for an ATT and the locations you can get on it. Same with ATCs.

There are many ways a federal law can be implimented/enforced differently by the provinces. The CFO has wide descretion.

However, I generally think the CFO stays away from the classification of firearms.

Classification is done by the RCMP right now. Other than "variant" status there's not a lot that's open for interpretation with new firearm models.

It still can't change the classifications. Besides Edmonton and Calgary seem to do fine enforcing the law.
