Ak-47 varient question.

Fair enough. I referred to it as more "AKM-ish" because the original poster was all about taking a Valmet RPK-style gun and restocking and converting it to a combloc AK-47 lookalike.

By AK47, MOST people on these boards really mean an AKM, not a true milled receiver early AK.

And yes, some .308 M78's have stamped receivers, but they are incredibly rare compared to the number of milled .308's out there - especially in Canada.

And a double-yup to the increasing price to "play ak". There are days I find it hard to justify hangining onto mine... it's sick how much it is now worth o nthe open market.

It's not an AK, but the VZ-58 does the trick, and on a decent budget.

I have a VZ too. Honestly, the VZ is every bit as good as a Valmet AK, both are milled receiver, chrome-lined bore rifles shooting similar rounds (sometimes the same round).

As an RPK-type platform though, the Valmet IS a better choice IMHO.

That being said, hard to beat the price point of the VZ58S.

Or just do like me and get both! :dancingbanana:
