AK-74s in Canada?

We all know there are plenty of the older 7.62mm AKs in Canada, all prohibs of course; but are there any of the newer types, like the AK-74, AK-74M or the little AKS-74, in the 5.45mm? I personally haven't seen any here, but it would be nice to know someone has one.

Well if we aren't worried then a valmet reciever will accept ak-47 parts. I have heard of them being modified to accept ak-74 but of course you would have to find a ak-74 parts kit that was semi-auto only. God forbid you inadvertently make a 12.2. That would be a 2k+ project probably.

Well, only the AK74 reciever is restricted, not the parts, am I correct? (assuimg you don't mean the FA sear and such)

AK74 reciever is prohib. Thats why you buy a valmet reciever. If you are willing to do alot of work you can put a ak74 parts kit on it while it remains a valmet.

Only the now non-existant factory in Finland can make Valmets. No new Valmets will ever be made.

You have to find a pre-existing one. They are rare but not unheard of.

Oh... VALMET.....

Yes, same as it is legal to modify a AR-15 it is also legal to modify your VALMET. Only trick is that they are harder and harder to find at a reasonable price. Most are WAY over priced and even still.... you have to find Parts & Mags.

Get a 'kit' and just make sure that it is not a FA kit..... and watch the barrel length......

Haha! If you can even find the valmet to start from for $2ooo, you're laughing, I sold both the last two I parted with for $3ooo, and that's just the base point, you need the AK74 parts, the ton of work that goes into it, the refinishing etc. Think more like $4ooo or more.
