hi guys,

i just got my CZ858 in the mail (thanks wolverine!) and i am looking at options to "beautify" the rifle a bit as i am not too fond of the furniture it has right now. so here are a few questions for you veteran VZ/CZ owners.

1. i have an AK grip i would like to put on but i have no bolt for it. any ideas as to what kind of bolt i should pick up from home depot etc.?
2. is it possible to convert AK-47 furniture for use on the CZ/VZ? i am thinking a galil style hand guard or AK-101 style plastic hand guards.

thanks a million!

For the pistol grip I can show you how. Tear off the metal piece that holds on the current grip. I had to reweld my trigger guard as it was ontop of this piece. Then go to Nut and Bolt and get the new bolt, it will be too long as they only sell one size of that metric thread. I'll lend you the tap and die set since you'll have to shorten it and thread the bolt further down.

Front stuff...good luck I don't think they are the right size to do an easy conversion.

Please guys don't do it otherwise if the Liberal see them they will ban all CZs (LOL)

Just kidding very nicely done Ljungman.

I remember saw a pic that someone fit the CZ with an AK top folding stock and man that thing looks evil (but i like it):D

Lets piss the Liberal off!

I like the CZ grip better than the AK. Looks nicer to me.

Anyway, for anyone who wants to see how to shape the AK stock to fit the CZ/VZ here are some pics. Other than chopping off the part of the ak stock that fits into the ak's rear trunion and widdleing whats left to fit the CZ/VZ buttstock spacer, you sinply have to drill a hole for the screw.

This is not hard as most AK stocks have a space for the cleaning kit anyway so you'll be half way there. Use a wood boaring bit only as big as the threaded end of the CZ's stock bolt to drill the hole first. Then use one as big as the head of the bolt and drill from the rear to widen out the hole a few cm's so the bolt head can seat in the stock and pull tight to the rifle.

Make sure you get the angle you want first!!!! The first time I tried this my angle wasn't steep enough and I couldn't use my sights so I had to refit it.

Another issue is a cosmetic one. The ak stock has a slot for the rear trunion tail. I just cut out a piece of metal to fit, drilled a screw hole, and blued it. The CZ's stock spacer hides the end.

you wont find a screw at home depot , i know cos i tried . best to get the AK bolt bcos it fits the CZ nut .

The little nut that the grip screw goes into is metric. I put an aftermarket grip on mine and had to go to the bolt bin at work and find one. It took a shorter bolt but worked like a charm.

The threads are the same on the CZ and the AK, so just get the AK pistol grip bolt, which is longer for a perfect fit. If you try to match it at the hardware store, bring the grip and the square CZ nut with you and carefully match the threads without stripping it. Be careful to not lose that nut, or you will have to order another, because they are not sold in hardware stores. Usually you can find someone selling a spare AK grip with the grip bolt somewhere online. The grip nut from the AK is too large for the hole in the CZ reciever, so that part is not interchangeable.
