I was planning to send my AK47 into the shop for a bbl reduction from 470mm to something closer to 10" ... problem is that the front sight base would be difficult to re-mount.

I was looking at the options in mounting a front sight onto the gasblock (welding) to look something like a Galil SAR FSB. Anyone have experience with this?

I know that ACE has a kit:

But it looks hoaky.

Anyone know of other options?
(BTW its PROHIB 12.5 and it probably willnever be fired at this point)

Might be easier to just get a krink size barrel bolt and carrier and just replace your barrel will just be pressed and pinned into the trunion

My bad. This is for a Chinese AK84 in 5.56mm

Anyone know if a Krinkov rear cover (with sight) will fit the standard Ak series?

The Krebs parts may offer a solution, although availability may be a problem. Ill post as soon as I download my pictures.

you are going to be out of luck on that one. anything you do is going to be labour intensive. To go the krinkov route you will need to remove the entire barrel assembly including the site block then have the kinkov barrel turned down to fit the 19mm chinese trunion. Even then the top cover migth not fit into the rear trunion. Some times the top covers fit most times they don't.

Thats what I have come to realize with this project (No Krink for me). At the very least I maybe able to do a bbl reduction. The 470mm (18.5") bbl looks hoaky.

Ive since changed the handguard to a TAPCO Galil style front handguard.

I was looking at the potential sight for rear Galil-esque looks but doubtful if it will co-witness with front sight :(

This one has an AK grip now and could become a Krink-esque rifle or at least an AK100series (If I could just get a FSB that fits ...

the full stock AK84 also got rid of the Chinese stocks and got a new KVAR AK stock set to get a AK74 look :)

That may have to be my last option. VGS does good work.

Did they have to re-profile the bbl? The FSB seems to be thinner at the original position.
