Looking for some opinions here.

I have a new AK47 in 7.62x39 arriving in a few weeks. I plan to change the furniture. its Chinese wood and a full stock model. I was thinking either OD polymer stock.

Ive seen some nice rail options but this is a 12.6 Prohib (I stand corrected its a 12.5 :) and wont be going to the range anytime soon :(

suggestions?

correct I stand its 12.5 ...12.6 is for the prohib pistols. I get them all confused (only think I know is that I cant buy and AUG :(

This one ia Norinco AK56 full stock. Ill post pictures before and after... I was thinking going the polymer route and keeping the traditional length of the AK. The bbl however is a geeky 18.5" and needs to be reduced to 16.3"

Allways liked the rommy's with the vertical grip..theres a place in the US that sells unfinished wood handguard and stock sets if you'd rather finish your own..And,they ship to canada
i'll try and find you the link

Edit: damn i chucked the box :( the handguards are in a grey area for import..make sure they dont put "ak47" or "hanguards for baby killing assult rifle" anywhere on the box or declaration..tell them to mark it as "wood furniture" on the box, declaration and receipt..ive gone through this and lost my first set i ordered to customs :(

It's more like a really dark purple, with maybe a tinge of brown. It's a pretty neat colour, considering it was actually issued AFAIK. It's similar to that purplish colour of bluing that you see on some Bulgarian metal parts, like Makarovs, if that helps any.

Thanks guys. I think that the plum full furniture should do the trick for the AK56 on the left. The middle one already has KVAR black furniture.

must admit that the wood on the AK56 is OK but the polymer pistol grip is better.

There seems to be two variants of plum. The US made (above is darker) while the original Russian is below:

I havent seen OD Green furniture on an AK

not sure how that would look.

The wood on that 56 looks great! if you decide to get rid of it,remember my name and i'll take it any time ;)
That would make great furniture to redo my Krinker plinker

I agree in a way. The front handguard is somewhat a classic style and such for the rifle in 7.62 x 39. I was thinking that maybe I can just change the pistol grip to plastic and keep the rest wood.

Tarn - more pictures would be great. The AK84 (middle) has black KVAR furniture (poor picture)

IMO That '56 would look gorgeous in a real Russian AKM wood set, to match the stamped receiver. Also needs a slanted AKM muzzle break and a ribbed topcover if possible.

Cheers,
Alex
