I have been oogling this shotgun since NS posted the thread about them entering the country. I have yet to see too many posts up about them. Are these reliable, good guns? Would there be a better choice for a first over under around that price point? I am not interested in hunting for a deal on the EE, I'd like to just buy a new gun, and this seems to be right up my alley. Advice?
 
When it comes to Turkish side by sides and Over and Unders Akkar has one of the best reputations in Turkey. Their brake action S&S and O&U are very well made
 
I will second that, I bought one to shoot skeet & trap with and was rather impressed with it, the only reason I sold mine was that I prefer shooting a pump. That may seem strange, but I can run a 24 on the skeet field with my full choked Ithaca 37.

That my friend is great shooting. Should have no trouble shooting ducks in the head and neck out to 35 yards. Great to hear about a 37 on the target range.

Akkar and CZ shotguns are in the same league. Tristar is not the same it is much lower quality. When it comes to Turkish brake actions there is 3 shops that count Akkar and co-operative in Hugulu that makes CZ the third shop is expensive and very high quality
 
I don't have the Orcap; I wanted to get one, but a friend who is into over unders convinced me to buy the 206 Silver purely on aesthetics instead. So, I looked around and found one for a good price at a site sponsor. However, I think they have gone up significantly since the spring. Anyhow, my gun seems to be very well made and has a nice satin finish on the wood and a deep flat/satin black on the barrels. This friend has one as well, and he gushes about the quality of the Akkars as a very good deal for the money; and he has a number of Browning and Beretta's for which he says he paid a lot more coin for a similar level of quality.

I haven't shot it yet, but will over the summer. Hopefully it will prove useful in my pursuit of wily old Bonasa umbellus this fall.
