Yesterday morning I took a client out with me to cull a buck that was damaging a plantation over in West Sussex. I took him to a spot I knew that Bucks had frequented and within 30 minutes one walked down the path into our ambush, Chris shot him in the chest using a CZ527 in 7.62 x 39 and the deer finally dropped 100 yards away with a massive exit wound. The 125 grain sierra bullet expanded massively in such a light deer but he just didnt know he was dead.
What was interesting was the wierd growths on his front hooves which caused me real concern until I checked back at the office and its apparently down to Vitamin K deficiency and is called aladins slipper syndrome. Apart from that the deer was healthy albeit light weight and in the rut!

that is odd. I wonder how it affects their ability to walk and run. wonder what other issues/deformations it causes from strain pressures (kinda like us when one leg is shorter then the other, it throws a lot out of whack).

I've seen it before in Dairy Cattle and it doesnt look too comfortable, he certainly ran very well for at least 100 yards before the big hole in his chest finished him. I missed seeing him being butchered but the client is a retired butcher so did it himself whilst I cleaned the rifles. He certainly would have mentioned any other oddities to me.
