Wow, just wow. Everything is superbly done. If you can only watch one movie this year make it this one.

This is military story told from the Spanish side in the 16th Century, during the 30 Years War. There are themes of loyalty, faith, honor, fatalism & redemption, with different layers of each. Spanish with English subtitles. Who knew Viggo Mortensen, aka Aragorn son of Arathorn, spoke Spanish?

Photography is a hobby of mine and I can say the cinemaphotography is outstanding. The framing of the scene at 1:02:30 is right out of a classical painting. Why can't Hollywood do movies like this?

Just watched the 1st 5 minutes of the movie and it looks really good. Thanks for link, I will definitely watch this.
 
I'm visualizing the beans-campfire scene from "Blazing Saddles" with Chef Boyardee canned pasta instead of the beans.
