I just came across these tonight and started doing some digging to see if I could find one for sale, seems they are fairly rare, doesn't look like many were made? I could easily make one but it wouldnt have that factory sks look that these have. Anyone have any ideas on where to look? I will probably post something on the EE but I'm hoping someone has an idea.

They are different looking thats for sure.

I know of 4 Albanian sks in Canada. They were all imported out of the US in pairs or individually. There are the odd carrier, but they aren't an aftermarket product. Some people have modified standard carriers into Albanian carrier clones.

Just to let you know these are about 1200-1600$ SKSs, not your average 200$ one. Don't be shocked if that is what is offered (if someone was willing to part with it from there collection), as that is actually the going rate. Definitely not recommended for cheap plinking.

It's only that expensive due to their rarity. From what I've heard, the quality is about the same as a russian

Realistically all SKSs are about the same quality. The nicest one I held was a Chinese one, but that was because it was literally new. If you had like new SKSs of all variants, you realistically wouldn't find much difference in terms of quality.

Rarity has a value all to itself. Some rare things are cheap, others are worth fortunes. Basically supply and demand. Garands are worth 1000-2000$ now, even though they were made in the millions, well a humble Turkish Forestry carbine which had only 10,000 made is only worth 300$.

Its funny, people are willing to sell things when they think it isn't worth much but not when they think it has value. For example one old guy I know was looking to sell a M1 Garand for 300$, and asked me if that was a reasonable price or if he would have to go lower. I told him it was worth at least a grand, more around 1200$. All of a sudden he wasn't looking to sell the rifle, even though he was willing to get rid of it for significantly less a moment before.

I figured they were pretty rare and would be highly priced but I was hoping someone may knee of a source for surplus parts. All I want is the bolt carrier for my sks build.

Thanks for the reply
