I have tags for the 408 WMU region for hunting. Been out there at least 3 times so far this season without luck. It is my first hunting season and I hope to try and get out at least a couple more times. I was last out just SW of Dead Man's Flats along the Wind Valley along Pigeon Creek and Wind Creek. I had mainly stayed on the Centennial Ridge Trail but veered off for a bit near Wind Creek. For the most part, I just saw squirrel, though I did spot some deer scat and bear scat here and there.

I'm hoping to get out at least a couple more times before the season's over. I'm trying to figure out some spots to look into and if anyone has any tips and strategies that can help improve my luck out there. I fully understand that this is tough hunting area. No wonder I got awarded the draw for that area, nobody wants it... :) Trying to figure out how to make the best of a tough situation. Any tips for that WMU?

You could try across from the golf course but watch the park boundaries.

Thanks. I usually have a combination of iHunter AB and Gaia GPS on my phone that I use to keep track of boundaries, tracks and topography. I'll look into it though.

EDIT: Just realized that I did some hunting around that area already. The west side of Hwy 40 looks to be a no hunting zone period, but I think I was around the Evan Thomas area. I might go back there and hang out along the Evan Thomas Creek past the WMU 648 boundary.
