Alberta Antelope and Goat draws out!

some of you eastern hunters may be a little confused as to which is an antelope or Pronghorn and which is a goat.

said he didn't get drawn for "speed goat" but has a picture of himself with his first "goat" which is actually a pronghorn or antelope.

displayed a picture of a mounted "goat"

And Rocks started of the thread saying he "heard the "loper" draws were done"

The all white critter lives in the mountains and is usually called a mountain goat. The brown and white one lives on the prairie and is usually called an antelope or pronghorn.

And just to add a bit to Duffy's comment: A speed goat, loper, pronghorn or antelope is usually a one day hunt with no bruises, scrapes or achy-braky hard going. A mountain goat on the other hand is a trophy of a life time, rivalling any African animal, probably the most demanding and hardeoust demand on physical and shooting ability offered to any man. I've hunted them, never with success, but I will tell you that the climb up is one thing, but coming down is something to be reckoned with....trust me, I've been there. Better yet, ask those that actually scored. :)

Thx Duffy....I am a true Alberta red neck and as you know we call antelope Speed goats...i have also hunted in the mountains and glassed true GOATS hanging off some scraggly cliff on the side of a mountain.

Speed Goats are easy to shoot....true mountain goats would require at least a week of hunting or so,A friggen helicopter to get it off the cliff...a wallet the size of whats her name...oh ya that Hilton chick....an the list goes on

This was my first antelope draw, I loved the spot and stalk concept....best hunt I have ever had in years....
