Alberta Bill 41 Amendments to Wildlife Act

Wondered how long it was going to take before this popped up here.

Coles notes version, if I have that correct and not being an Albertan, is allowing dogs for blood trailing, lowering the age that kids can hunt on their own, and allowing 22 centerfires for big game, correct?

Yessir. Those are probably the highlights. But lots of other positive changes. They clarified the language around edible portions salvage requirements, stiffened AB residency status a little, and added the option to salvage either the meat or the hide from black bear and cougar.

Edit to add: I’d been told this bill had passed. Upon further investigation, it looks like it has only passed 1st reading.

Judging from the dialogue on the threads in the politics threads, I can see why it is a problem.

No different than the BCWF chapter on VI pushing to raise the age on kids being able to hunt moose and elk because the old boys think it isn’t fair that some people get LEH’s and they don’t.

Hopefully guys will consider the fact that this has been the standard in many other provinces and states for a long time, and not been a problem. Not sure why it should be a negative here.
Lots of Albertan's losing their minds over It, it's a danged non issue and it's not even law yet ! LOL. All one has to do is look at the Provinces ,States , and Countries that allow it- with an open mind , of course .

Same logic with people dissing the .30 carbine as a poor manstopper round but glowing battlefield reports on the .30 mauser broomhandle at 700fps slower . The 7.62x25 is only 500 fps slower for comparison.
