Alberta black bear ... with a spear

I'm left wondering how he fir in those pants with balls that big.

What a feat, good for him... Very very impressive !!!

And the naysayers should stay the F out of the hunting section

Hunting deer with a spear is rush every one should try it once.
Bear that's just crazy cool and the pig spear he is using is hard to throw

Ive been chucking an atlatl around all spring I hope to try out someday. Planning on taking a few bunnies around my property when they open back up for some small game action. Not a whole pile of deer around me but I'm sure it would be a blast, no fkn way I'd try a bear or moose!
 
It doesn't get more primitive than that. If I was younger and had a better ticker I would definitely try that. The act of killing during a hunt is never pretty but it is part of the process. As was said before any one that complains about this should just stay off the hunting forum. Rifle, muzzle loader, bow, or spear hunting is hunting. If the hunters achieves a clean kill during an ethical pursuit or method it is to be commended. IMHO this was.
 
While some people might balk at the idea of killing with a spear,it's really no different than using a bow . I agree,if the kill is humane and the equipment legal it's nobody's business....besides, spears were the 'original' hunting equipment,weren't they?
 
I have to wonder what kind of drugs he's one to act like that. Anti hunters would have a field day with the way he acts let alone the spear hunting. What is the gizmo on the spear by the way.
 
Good job on a nice bear... spear hunting is normally a thrusting proposition, throwing brings in a large margin for error, but clearly this fella had done ALOT of practicing and had a background in throwing.

Nothing will satisfy the anti-hunters. If you hunt non dangerous game you are a coward. I remember seeing a youtube vid of a kid sneaking up and taking down a deer with an Atlatl....very cool.
 
Fair enough, he made a good throw and killed it. Still a spear and this is 2016, if you have better means of reducing your margin of error, use them. I like to see animals brought down quickly and the more primitive you get with your equipment the greater the chances you have of wounding and/or not killing your prey.

Exciting clip but I'm a meat hunter and macho, jock, look-at-me hunting techniques don't do much for me

Well, that is all kinds of impressive. I would've had a shotgun for back up though.

That's a hell of a story behind that bear skin rug!
