I hope this is the right forum for this post,if not moderators please let me klnow. Myself and my hunting partner are looking for someone to be our "hunter hosts" for a whitetail hunt in Alberta.Access to private property a bonus. In exchange I can offer a fantastic salmon fishing trip to the West Coast of Vanc Island. Included would be accomodation, gear ,and my expertice on my 28 ft sport fish boat. Many pictures available to interested parties On this trip you WILL catch salmon, halibut , ling cod and red snapper. I have fished this area for 20 years and am confident I will find you some fish. If anyone is interested please send me a pm .Thanks

I'd host you, but am new to hunting in Alberta & have no connections yet...

But this year I'll be more proactive when it comes to getting into hunting.

I'm pretty sure that trading something for a hunt is illegal under the hunter host program. This is from the regulations:

"Hunter Host - an adult resident who is the holder of a valid Hunter Host Licence. To obtain this licence, the adult must hold a valid WiN and be eligible to hold recreational hunting licences. A Hunter Host may not provide services for gain or reward, or accept a fee for services, directly or indirectly.
The licence authorizes the holder (usually a relative or friend of the hunters to be hosted) to host a maximum of two non-residents (Canadian) or non-resident aliens* named on the host's licence to hunt wolf, coyote and big game throughout the province.
* Non-resident alien hunters are referred to Outfitting and Guiding Requirements for additional conditions and restrictions."

I've heard that trading another hunt, fishing trip, etc., is illegal, but I'm not a lawyer. Something you migh want to check out further.

Iattempted to find out if the exchange of trips was legal or not, sounds like I will have to remove my offer. Thanks to those who responded,I certainly do not want to put anyone in violation of any regs. Thanks

Doesn't matter if the traded item/service has a "monetary value" or not, the fishing trip would be a "reward".

It all comes down to the nature of the agreement between the host and hunter: providing hosting in exchange for a fishing trip is illegal under the law. Hosting a couple guys with NO REQUIREMENT FOR RECIPROCATION, but you are invited to go on a fishing trip if you want, is not illegal.

My 2 cents and educated interpretation.

EDIT: sorry Dan, I misread your post the first time - we are on the same page!
