Im told I can take the Alberta hunters ed coarse online through aheia.com, anyone else take it there?

How long did it take to get through everything? How was the test?

I picked up the books at AHEIA just off of Elbow Drive in Calgary (I didn't rely on the online materials, so I can't comment on them).

The testing was pretty straight forward, and just followed the material in the book. It was a couple years ago that I did it, so it may have changed, but nothing really took me by surprise.

I took it. Took several days to go through all the online modules as I didn't want to sit there and do it straight though. You can pause and return anytime you want. I believe you have a 6 month deadline to complete the course. NOTE: it doesn't allow you to skip modules that you are viewing for the first time. You can revisit any modules that you have previously viewed.

The test was easy. 100 questions, need 80% to pass. I got 98%.

agreed, I did it over a 2 week period couple per night. Hated that you had to wait for it to finish talking before you moved on. As I read faster than the voice.

My wife and my 11 year old (with dyslexia to boot) did the online course and the wife passed with 97 and the 11 year old with 90. It's an easy exam -- the most common sense answer is always right.

Right on thanks guys! Any chance of getting the paperwork back before november?

Do they atleast give you your license number or whatever so I'm good if the paperwork does not come through before november?

I notice the link you posted comes with the manual also, is it worth the extra 25 bucks?
Or just do the non manual included one?

Pretty sure those days are over.

AHEIA doesn't allow any challenges to the test any more, everyone must take the course now.

I guess I should've clarified. I did do the online testing, but it wasn't a 'challenge'. As others above have stated, there were online modules. I just preferred to have the books to flip through, and then skip through the (almost) same online material to get to the test for the module. I remember thinking how I would've been frustrated with the somewhat glitchy materials online instead of having a hard copy that I could flip back and forth through at my leisure. That may have improved however.

Do you guys think it would be just as good as taking a classroom course for a new hunter? Would you get more out of a classroom type course VS. online?
I am thinking of taking it.

One of the big problems you will face is so few now offer the course.

It is a 25 hour course, that is a big commitment for an instructor and many don't want to teach it, because you really don't make that much in the end.

But, to answer your question, a good instructor will kick the online courses butt bad.
