So, I renewed my license online at the end of October. Haven't received it yet, but no worries there.

The other day I got a letter from the AB CFO. Thinking they want some sort of info to complete my renewal, I quickly tear it open.....only to find my long term ATT .

I never applied for this yet. The old one is still good until my b'day in 2015. I was gonna give them a call early in the new year, but this showed up unannounced.

Has anyone else received their LTATT without applying?

I can't say it's karma, 'cause like the last go-round, they screwed me out of a year on the ATT. It'll expire 11 months before my license would. :slap:

(E)

They sent me a new one as well, however I did recently renew my PAL.

They sent me the letter requesting proof of club membership, so I sent them a snarky email with a photocopy of my membership cards for the last 5 years asking if this was going to satisfy their requirements for my AT&T as well, or we're they just making people jump through hoops?

Just noticed they removed gunsmiths.... continued erosion of freedoms and imposition of paperwork. Dicks.

I recently purchased a pistol and a new ATT arrived. Expires the same date as my previous ATT but gunsmith has been removed. I haven't addressed this with the CFO yet.

Another thing that bothers me is the different belonging to different groups or shooting different disciplines can change your ATT. As a member of IPSC Alberta I can get a multi province ATT if I provide a calendar of matches in B.C and SK. I have never tried for more provinces. Cowboy Action is not given the same privileges.

Hmmm..... my understanding was that they were trying to align you LTATT expiry date to your RPAL expiry date.

In fact, they issued me a short duration LTATT last year in order to align the expiry date with my RPAL.

When I renewed my RPAL this year, a LTATT came with my RPAL without requesting one.

And yes, registered gun smith was removed as a viable destination from mine as well. As to why, I have no idea.

I would prefer they change "border crossing" to "post office". "border crossing"?

Same thing happened to me. I think they believe that if they issue you a new one with gunsmith removed it invalidates the old one. In my case I took a pistol to a gun store that was also a gunsmith to trade it with one of the guys who works there, and on doing the transfer they were surprised that it was already there without me having applied for an STATT.

Yup my co-worker just renewed his and they removed "the gunsmith" out of it told him he'd have to call for one if he needed. He asked how they can change it he got no response.....It also say border crossing like the old one but something to the fact of with "only to with transfer papers for beyond them" ???

Must be nice to change rules with nobody questioning you...........
